Hi, my name is Yols and this is my second character. Something you should know about me is I did a paper on this character…might as well try my hand at playing him .

Play By: Chris Tucker
PERSONALITY
General personality: Well, James is certainly an odd character. James pretty much thinks he’s a gift to the world. He has no problem boasting about his accomplishments, his looks, his personality. He’s conceited and proud of it. On top of that, he’s shamelessly bold and flirtatious. In general, he just doesn’t care. He doesn’t care about morality, like being the good “boy scout”, and he definitely doesn’t care what people think about him.
What does he care about? He cares about making himself better. Honestly, he really thinks, despite all of his impressive accomplishments in his field, that he should be doing something more. He’s bored with his accomplishments. He always wants more knowledge, more abilities, more talents. He’s already freakishly smart and extraordinarily talented in his field but he wants to be God-like. Mostly because he really doesn’t believe in God. But rather, whatever a human can do on earth is much more impressive than any supposed “miracle”.
James can also be very comical, mostly due to his boldness and boastful tendencies. And also because, well, again, he could care less about consequences.
Quotes, frequently used expressions: “Man, do you think I give a shit?”
Likes: (please list three)
Dislikes: (please list three)
Strengths: He’s an extraordinary surgeon, who has preformed “miracles” on his own right. He’s ambitious, smart, and bold.
Weaknesses: He is prideful, lacks self control, obsessed with immediate pleasure, and too bold.
BACKGROUND
Family: Born only child to middle class parents.
Education: Doctorate degree, including years medical school
Occupation: Surgeon
Worst past experience: Greeting "thing 1 and thing 2" as Faustus calls them (the good angel and bad angel)
Best past experience: The height of his medical career.
Image: Very acclaimed among his peers, people think he’s literally a miracle worker.
History:
James’ childhood was pretty uneventful. He grew up in NYC. His parents worked hard to provide him with a decent education. They made sure that his soul was saved as well, sending him to Christian schools. James worked hard and achieved much in his schooling. But as he grew, so did his personality and ideas about the world. As an adult he rebelled against his parents and distanced himself. Not because of some childhood trauma, not because of some tragic death. No, James distanced himself because he wanted to. He distanced himself from his family and God. He had his own interests to pursue.
Several years of schooling came and went. By the time he was done with medical school, he was already known as a prodigy. His research and methods were known and acclaimed by many scholars. As a doctor, he saved many lives, some methods were experimental but they worked. He was, quite literally, a miracle worker. Senators and Congressmen gave him honors and awards for his work in the field. One of his most famous feats was a woman who died on the operating table. Faustus’ assistants had called her but Faustus refused to give up on her and succeeded in resuscitating her, even when she was proclaimed dead.
After a while, however, his achievements started to bore him. Faustus started to crave something more. He wanted to be more, do more. After all, he couldn’t exactly say he was God’s gift to the world. Why? Because he wanted to be God. One night, he was flipping through his medical journals, in a desperate attempt to stimulate his mind, to experience excitement, something. He thought about his past, his relationship with a God he never knew. He entertained the thought of Heaven and Hell. But he knew he was already damned, if not for his disregard for God, for his believe that he could cheat death.
Maybe…just maybe, he’d get a better deal out of the devil if this whole Heaven and Hell thing actually existed, he thought. Suddenly, at that moment, he thought he saw two apparitions. Well he did. But that was downright crazy because ghosts and stuff doesn’t exist. But unless he was on some really potent drug…and last time he checked, he wasn’t…though he wish he was…he couldn’t have been just seeing things.
Whether it was just all in his head or some symptom of an unknown disease he’s never heard about, these apparitions were talking to him. One told him, “You need to turn back to God, repent, Faustus…”
To which he replied. “Repent?! You the one all up in my head, up in my house and shit. you repent. I’m sure being all up in my free will is a violation of one of those 300 something laws in the old testament.”
To which the “angel” replied, “Free will? I have no bearing on your free will. It is your choice to repent.”
“No, It is my free will to not see fuckin ghosts when I’m trying to do work. DAMN.”
Then suddenly the other “angel” spoke. “Exactly. Besides, Faustus. You’re damned anyway. Why not live it up?”
To which Faustus stood and grabbed his coat, content to believe that this was all in his head. Why? Well if it wasn’t, that would be too much crazy shit for James to handle. But at least he could say goodbye…to the angel that had some sense.
“Yeah, I’m out. But you have a good time haunting the walls. I’m about to live it up like you said because…sorry, not trying to be another remake of some Charles Dickens story. Ghost of Faustus’ past and present and all that shit. So peace.” With that, he slammed the door.
Unfortunately for Faustus, this wasn’t the last he would see of the good and evil angels. They would manifest in his head again, begging him to choose a side of righteousness or damnation. And maybe, one day, he’ll choose…
THE SAMPLE
In Character Sample:
It was quiet in the ER, as his rubber gloved fingers worked with the unconscious woman's open skin and flesh as if it was merely a matter of tying shoelaces rather than fixing a spinal injury. His brown eyes peeking behind the surgical mask and head cap were focused but relaxed. His demeanor did not match the tension swimming in the air, surrounding him and his assistants. This surgery has rarely been done before, and all of his assistants were amateurs compared to him.
Holding his hand out for another instrument to be passed to him he looked up at his assistants. “What?”
Both of the young men observing at the other side of the operating table shook their head.
James sighed heavily. “Look, I ain’t about to have people sit up in here like this man.”
“Faustus…” his top assistance urged desperately. “The patient?”
“Look, I got the patient. But these freshman look like they about to drop dead before this chick does. Seriously, if you’re squeamish about blood, I don’t know where you gotta go but you gotta get the fuck up outta here.”
The young doctors looked at Faustus wide eyed until one of them spoke up and said, “We’re not squeamish.”
Faustus smirked under his mask. “Good. We’re on the same page.” He looked down at the opening again. “Now…if you all would be so kind…sit back, relax, and watch me work some magic.”
