00V. description Characteristic of a “lady of the evening” and during said evenings, she is almost always sporting attire that makes the elitist and otherwise supercilious portion of society turn their noses upwards to her. Utilizing a provocative and slightly disheveled sense of style, her closet is comprised of mainly titillating skirts, enticing shirts that leave just enough to the imagination, skimpy dresses and an assortment of high-heels. Carrying with her an air of what can only be described as an "indomitable spirit" - convoluted as it may be - her sultry image is thus enhanced, even during the daytime when she prefers to outfit herself in casual clothing.
00I. overall personality Lucy is a young woman toughened while paradoxically softened by the harsh realities of life. A split in identity birthed by necessity alone constitutes a great deal of whom she is and what’s telling about her is that who she pretends to be reveals more about her than who she truly is. Upon first meeting, her visage of street-wise temptress is fully intact. Wisecracking and prone to spouting lascivious obscenities, she can often be received as slightly endearing in her own vulgar way. Her boldness is pronounced and she appears slightly discerning, a scarlet woman with eyes like a moor at dusk and skin like polished porcelain, dangerous by her own provocative and mysterious lure.
Unbeknownst to most, however, her initial blasé attitude and exaggerated bravado act as her subterfuge. “Misdirection”, she refers to it as. Her brashness and offending promiscuity generally serve as effective distractions from the damaged woman that lies beneath the veil of falsities. When not under the intense scrutiny of Spider, her fellow streetwalkers, and clients, she tends to harbor a more introverted personality. Tracking mental processes of other people, knowing what their thinking – or at least guessing at what they’re thinking - and uncovering why they do what they do is of great importance to her. Often what’s going on in her mind is more compelling than what’s going on outside, a truth that goes largely unacknowledged by others because of her tendency to freeze people out.
From a young age, Lucy possessed a curiosity for life that propelled her forward. She likes to get to the bottom of things and is not content with just the knowledge of what someone did; she also wants to know what compelled that person to do it. The why behind it all. Not content only skimming along the surface, she doesn’t feel that it is frivolous to dig for the meaning of things. This pursuit for the significance of occurrences lends her the patience that goes hand-in-hand with understanding abstract concepts. The mind of her is always thinking beyond what individuals assume a woman of her station in life should preoccupy herself with.
However, what she has endured hasn’t gone without breeding a fair amount of pessimism, mixing with her subtle optimism to form a curious hybrid of the two. She tends to be a “glass half-empty” kind of person, which for her is simply a realistic outlook. Her feeling is that this world can be a depressing place and only a fool would think otherwise. Conversely, she also feels that only an even greater fool would resign himself/herself to the pitfalls without first seeking a way out. While she does not search for the silver lining in every cloud, she keeps her eyes fixed on the sky nonetheless. Just in case one happens to catch her attention.
A woman of fulminating passion, she sometimes reacts before she thinks which allows leeway for a flood of regrets. She possesses a propensity to surrender to her impulses and indulge her cravings. Rather than fight her emotions, she frequently does what comes naturally, which means occasionally overdoing it, sometimes even embarrassing herself. Not the type of person who never regrets anything she’s said or done, Lucy can be quite wistful and a serial lamenter.
Generally tenderhearted and sweet-natured, her actual self is significantly different from the caricature that she purports, despite having every reason not to be. Considering herself to be a bit of a humanist, she’s willing to go out of her way to help someone without being influenced by some shady ulterior motive. The hooker with the heart of gold, if you will, who aspires for nothing more than something more.
0II. strengths Acidic charm, cleverness, considerable knowledge of The Bronx prostitution and drug underground, natural sociability, easygoing attitude, generally truthful nature, discreetness, self-less kindness, and her ability to grasp abstract concepts
III. weaknesses Harbors intense fatalism, naivety in regards to personal connections, inability to cope effectively with any sudden changes, severe trust issues, proclivity to be a bit impulsive in the negative during heated incidents, and is susceptible to some men (specifically those with a manic gleam in their eye) who impose their authority on her
0IV. goals To attain some sort of catharsis, successfully purging herself of the sins she's committed and ones committed upon her; to be given the chance to start anew, out of the grimy realm of prostitution, and not hesitate to take it; to fall irrevocably in love with someone and have the sentiment returned
00I. notable family & friends Lynette Marie (nee Morrison) Harris (mother-deceased), Marko Ian Harris (father), Jane Eyre- best friend and confidante, Victor Griffiths- one with whom she shares an easygoing friendship with and offers a great deal of her trust, Mary Jane Kelly- fellow prostitute and friend, Roger Davis- guy pal that she shares a playful friendship with
