She started to walk out. The gloves and suitcase in her care as she started to head out to the taxis. It had been a while since she had come back from England. She had taken a few minutes of vacation to visit family and set up shop again. Change her hair, change her image . Change everything about her. Every detail that she had tried to hide was now hidden away. There was no need to show any other faces. All the mask that she had worn for people that she had met now where gone. Her hair changed to a new look as she was happy .
Covering her body with the long trench coat. She sighed and started to wonder what in the world was she to do now. Turn an innocent corner or continue with the deliciousness that was the scene of the crime. Yes , if she had to say that one of her vices it was lust. Lust for the game of getting caught, lust for seeing objects at the touch of her fingers. Lust for much greater things. Plus money, money made the world go round after all. Then again, she also had plenty of that. Then again, she also had a debt. A debt that she had killed a man .
He was powerful, and yet at the same time the man had tried to take advantage of her. She was not going to let that happen. Which was why, she was now worried about what the hell she was going to do if she actually met James again. She did not know what she would do. Looking behind her, and in front of her she sighed and started to open a taxi door. Well at least she was calm , and ready if the worst should happen.

As usual, Irene Adler was a thorn in James's side. First, she screwed up a job, taking out a man, then she decided to skip town without informing him before hand. Sometimes, he wondered if she didn't have something clinically wrong with her mind. It made it increasingly more difficult to work with her. Suffering from a whole new level of disappointment, James fixed himself up to pick up Adler at the airport. She needed to be taught some respect. Correction, she needed to be taught that he was the only thing keeping her alive anymore. Adler owed him her life and she was going to finally acknowledge that fact.
Commandeerig a taxi cab, James carefully circled until her made-over face came into view. She hailed him down and he was happy to comply for now. He took her address, switched on the meter to keep up appearances and pulled out. For the first few blocks he drove like he would have if he was actually taking her where she wanted to go then changed courses. Instead, he pointed the taxi to a storage space he owned for such occasions.
It was sad how few people could really, truly follow his directions.
"Welcome back, Adler," He purred from the front seat, watching for her reaction in the rearview mirror. "You left without saying goodbye. It rather hurt my feelings," Even though his tone was kept light and conversational, there was no denying the steel undertone. He wasn't angry, perse. James was simply...
Annoyed.
Frustrated.
Prepared to fire her on the spot after making sure she would never think of turning on him.
But he wouldn't do that. Whether he liked her or not, Adler was effective when she had the mind the pay attention.

She started to enter the car as she found herself to be looking outside at the scenery. She had not imagined to get a cab so quickly. But yet here she was and she was going home. The cab driver was silent for the most part. She was glad about that. She had to many Cab drivers talk to her. Then again, the shadowed appearance of the man made her feel a little bit strange. But then the destination was correct, she had given him the address and she was not in any hurry to get there. So she kind of dozed off a little bit closing her eyes in the mean time. When she awoke , she found herself in some other place. He had guided her away, why .
She felt her throat close as the driver started to drive away from her destination. Then when she heard his voice. She felt stiff all over. A sigh escaped her as she rubbed her neck. Her hand going to her knife as she clicked her tongue. "GOT YOUR BLOODY ATTENTION ... " she screamed and started to stab the seat next to her. She did not care for exaggeration. She did not care if she was exaggerating her moods either. Opening the door, she started to walk out as she removed her coat and her shoes and started to walk really fast. Her hands would claw his eyes out. She would feed him to the birds if it was necessary.
She started to also feel the wind in her hair. She was not going to talk to him, she was not going to look back. Yet at the same time, she halted. She did not really know where she was. But she knew who she was with. Then again, if the man was so deeply interested in her then he should have come looking for her another time. Turning around, she placed her hands on her hip as she groaned. Yes there was a few things she detested more than others. But James, or Jimmy as she liked to call him was one of them. " Do you expect me to respond to you after you abandoned me and left me high and dry. "she bellowed as she wanted to throw something at him.

James tsked to himself. Leave it to Adler to overreact. She was out of the taxi and running away from him in a heartbeat, just like James had expected. And she even stabbed the poor apholstery. Now that was just uncalled for.
What did the taxi ever do to her?
James parked the car and followed after her at a much more leisurely pace. He had a gun holstered under his jacket and he took the time to pull it out and thoughtfully look it over. Clicking the safety off, James aimed it at Alder calmly. "Come now, Irene, no need for dramatics," And by that he meant to stop being so pitifully boring. He started to pull the trigger but stopped. With a sigh he made a show of screwing a supressor onto the end of the gun then re-aiming.
He fired twice, both times missing Adler by mere inches. On purpose.
"I expect you to do as you're told, Adler," James clicked his fingers smartly. "Now...come," He gave a little whistle and tucked the gun away.

She halted when she heard the gun fire. Her head turned around as she heard James voice say that he expect her to do what she was told. She knew that much , she did not want to get shot a second time. She would not have the kind and decency of the world around her to be her savior. Walking back towards the man. She looked at the ground and started to wait for what he would say.
She knew that she had 30 seconds to run, 30 minutes to think and 5 seconds to act on her running and her plan. Yet what she knew was that she had disobeyed his law. His law and yet when was her law going to come into effect. "Got your attention did it not my leaving" she said and started to take out her cigars. A really nasty bad habit had come back when she could not control herself anymore. The suicide thoughts and the ever lasting obligation of serving this man sent her right back to square one.
Even more so , she now knew for certain she could never find some happy ending in this world. But she could bloody well defend herself , even in the face of this man. Who was this man anyway to say that she belonged to him and that she would do what she was told to do. "You have been pissing me off too and I don't care anymore what I say or what I don't say.. I am tired and I don't want to work for you anymore." she said and started to feel the tension in her body relax. But when would the next blow come. That was the interesting question that was in her mind.

Adler wasn't being her usual spitfire self, not that James was complaining. She was tired, it was plain on her face. Tired of him and tired of all the things he made her do. It was to bad; there was an idiom, make your bed and then lie in it. Adler had agreed to work for him some odd years ago; it had been implicit that there wouldn't be an out. James Moriarty owned her.
"I am deeply sorry," The sarcasm was thick on his voice, dripping like venom over every word. "To hear that you are dissatisfied with your job, but we both know that quitting isn't an option," James was acutely aware of the weight of the gun in his hand. It wouldn't be any bother at all to raise the weapon and discharge a single bullet. Right between Adler's pretty eyes and everything would be solved. However, Adler was valuable.
Valuable in a willing to do the grunt work for him sort of way.
She brought in a fair bit of money all because he charged her with numerous, small figure jobs. Unless of course whatever he wanted was overprotected, then he went for it himself.
For a challenge, he might say. For amusement mostly.
"I'm going to say this once, Adler. You run like that again and I will dissect anything and anyone you ever held dear. And, since I'm feeling generous today, I'll make sure that they're dead before I start removing anything,"

He dripped venom into her body, her mind a foggy landscape as she could not picture the sun without the people she cared about the most. They had both played this game before, and she was sure that he could do it. But yet the man adorned some qualities of a villain. He must have seemed sweet to his pupils, but to his enemies he was the black widow himself. How could she let a man like him control her, frozen in time for eternity.
Always in debt to him and him alone. She guessed the best solution to stop him was to play her own self and annoy him. Slipping into a smile. She extended her fingers and fixed his jacket. "Whatever you say boss, but yet I was feeling quite lonely that you were not fucking me around" she pointed and removed her hands from his jacket and placed them in her pockets. The fire in her eyes made her step back as she started to walk back towards the car.
"So what did you want to do hmm, a little shag in the taxi. Beat me, maybe bleed me is that it" she said , sarcasm in her voice. She really did not know what to think anymore. Everything in her world was turned upside down. She could not even follow the profession she liked. Maybe retirement was at hand. Then again, retirement seemed boring.

"Get away from the car, Adler," James rolled his eyes and walked forward. "And don't flatter yourself. I wouldn't touch you with a ten foot pole right now, I don't know where you've been." James wrinkled his nose and brushed past her to the car and opened the driver side door, slipping in, locking all the doors, and starting the engine. He rolled the window down and gave Adler a firm look.
"Fuck up again and I will destroy you Adler. And I will savor it." James flashed her a smile and rolled the window up, putting the car into gear. As he started to drive away, James couldn't help but play with the idea of killing her anyway. Wouldn't that be fun? And oh so beneficial too. Kill her, get rid of the enormous pain in his ass that she had become, and have a jolly time doing it.
James sighed as he drove the taxi back to the depot. That would be so fun. So satisfying. But if would leave him one drone short and then he would have to go through the trouble of finding another to fill her spot. Which wouldn't be too terribly difficult, he supposed. Just tiresome.
But the lure of a dead Adler was almost enough to outweigh that.
