00V. description Atticus a very respectfully dressed person, he knows the difference between personal and professional dress. At Work he wears suits in either dark of very dull colors. He wears glasses when he’s on the job and makes sure that he is always dressed for the right event or day. When he’s teaching he may relax some by taking off his glasses, but in court he is focused determined and professional. His hair will always be perfectly styled for his day and not a hair will be out of place. He is in all sense of the word organized. Every category of dress is perfect and aligned.
At home Atticus is much more relaxed. When just getting home he’ll take off his suit jacket and roll up his sleeves. The tie will be pulled from his neck and the top to buttons of his shirt undone. His glass will be thrown carelessly on the end table by the door along with his car keys and wallet. A quick run through his hair with his fingers will ruin the carefully styled hair do.This is where the true beauty of Atticus can be seen. When he is relaxed reading to his two children in his lap with no cares or worries of appearance or professionalism.
00I. overall personality Atticus is a very complex man. Though on the outside Atticus could be seen as a very calm, happy man, there are parts of him on the inside that are the absolute opposite.
Atticus could be the cover model for the emotion calm. No matter the situation he will always look calm and collected. He will smile and give you a shoulder to cry on, yet never loosing his serene attitude. He has handled everything from hate to joy with just a cool face and small smile.
People in his community see Atticus as the wise man, who helps anyone in need. He will give anyone a hand in whatever is troubling them , whether it be needing a lawyer to get out of a parking ticket, or fixing your car that broke down in the driveway. He believes in doing what’s right for his fellow man no matter who they are. He doesn’t care where you come from, or how much money you make in year, if your good person, he’ll help. Atticus has been known to take tokens instead of money for his work, a sack of potatoes or a home cooked meal would be taken for his services. He gets criticized by people about this payment method, he’s been called a sucker or sap, but he ignores these things said by people and continues to help others even when he doesn’t gain.
Being the person that everyone looks to when in trouble is not easy for Atticus. Though he does not show it on the outside, there is a lot of weight on his shoulders. When he is alone, and knows no one can see he breaks down. Head in hands and palms pressed against his eyes, he tries hard not to let all the emotions scream out of him. All the responsibility he carries ties him into knots inside. Then there’s the suffering and pain he see’s the people he tries to help go through everyday. The images of the mother who was beat black and blue , or the child who had to relive the events of a kidnapping, or even a young girl crying on stand because a defense attorney made her read out the details of her rape, it all just made him break. But only when he is alone, only when the faces of his young children aren't in the room to see their father cry.
Atticus loves his children, in some ways they are the reason he continues on with his work. He wants them to be able to see that someone can try and help others even in this darkening world. He still loves his late wife, thinks the world of her, but is lonely. He tries to go out on small dates, but most women want him for money or to help him win the case. The worst situation is when a woman who proposes that he help her divorce someone or sue something tries to pay with sex. Now Atticus isn’t opposed to the act of sex,nor does he go around practicing it like it was going out of style. But he thinks that it’s something that should be done between two people who are in a committed relationship and are ready to take it to the next level.
Though Atticus is very handsome and a wonderful man to go on a date with the fact that he has two children tends to send his suitors away. He doesn’t mind, he knows that if someone he dates, can’t get along with his children, then they are not in it for the long run. Anyone who wants to be with Atticus, will have to want his son and daughter too.
0II. strengths Kindness towards people who is in need, Willing to take a job for little or no payment, A strong man with good morals, His ability to stay calm under pressure.
III. weaknesses Tends to break down from stress or strong emotions when no one is around, the idea of two children that repel women, falling for sob stories easily.
0IV. goals Atticus wants to help as many people that he can through his job. He also would like to teach students to be a lawyer who stands for justice for the good people in the world. He aims to show his children that there is still some good in the world. And finally he wants someone to be able to be in a relationship with him and maybe one day grow to be a wife.
00I. notable family & friends

*Jeremy "Jem" Finch ~ His eleven year old son, who tries very hard to be like his father, but tends to have a few rough edges that need to be smoothed out.
*Alexandra "Aunt Alexandra" Hancock ~ Atticus’ sister who tries to like Scout’s mother figure. She wants to make her into a proper lady who goes to debutante balls and pageants.
*John Hale "Uncle Jack" Finch ~ Atticus’ younger brother who is a doctor. He is a flirt, an alcholic and loving uncle towards his niece and nephew.
0II. overall history There's not much that anyone can say for Atticus' short childhood, thought that term is used loosely. At the age of 10 he was the eldest of three children, and the man of the house after his Daddy was killed in a farming accident. He took this job on his shoulders with no complaints and did all he could for his Mama and younger sister and brother. He did most of the chores, and worked hard in school to get a good education, so one day he could get a good job to support his family. So his childhood was quickly turned to one of adult responsibilities.
There was one thing that Atticus did indulge in, and that was shooting a gun. He got the nickname "One-Shot Finch" due to his ability to shoot a hole through a penny with on shot. He liked to shoot, it gave him the joy that he never got once his father died. Then as he got more and more famous throughout Maycomb for his skills, he started to challenge people for money. He would take them on and beat them with his marksman skills, then take the money he got and gave half to his Mama. The other half he would keep in a special box that he kept hidden from his brother under his bed. This was his escape box , as he called it, the money that would be used to put him through school and then college.
Atticus had always been a smart boy, not like his sister or brother who didn't care much for school. He liked to read and study for examines and test, He got high honors in all of his classes and had no trouble at all passing every test that was thrown at him. It wasn't long before he was moving up the ranks throw middle school and then to high school.
High school was a social challenge for Atticus. He was used to being social with people in his small middle school, but in a major high school he had to work hard to keep up with people's social standards. It was quickly spread through out the school about Atticus' status of the 'smart kid'. He was thrown into the business of helping people out of tests , homework, studying, anything that someone needed help with. He found out that he liked the feeling he got when he helped someone. It was in high school that he found out that he truly wanted to become a lawyer, one that tried to help as many people as he could.
He went to Harvard. With a Scholarship and all the money he had saved in his life it wasn't hard for him to afford it. He took all honors classes, graduated top in his class and was offered a job there as a Law professor. He declined the job offer, due to the fact that the girl he loved was moving to New York City.
You see in Harvard, Atticus met a women who went my the name Louise. He fell madly in love with her, she was smart, funny, kind, and like him wanted to help people. They started dating, casually at first and but it quickly evolved into something much more serious. So when she decided to take a job as a paralegal in New York, he said he would follow. They got married at the age of 23 years old.
At 24 their son "Jem" was born. It rough on them having a son while both working full time jobs, but they made it through. Their son never knew a day of sadness in the house. He was cared for and loved more then any child could ever want. And 4 years later at the age of 28 their Daughter "Scout" came into their lives.
The family was filled with happiness and joy, everyone loved each other and even Jem helped take care of his new baby sister.
But tragedy struck when only a year later, Louise died from a car accident. Atticus was in shock. Just the year before he was a happy husband and father of two, who sat in the park with his wife and flirted like they were 19 again. Now he was a single parent and widower with no way of know what he should do next. How would he get along without his Louise? He couldn't even remember a time before her.
Then he would look down at the smiling face of his baby daughter and knew that he had to be strong for her and Jem. So he decided that day that he would never be weak in front of them, he would stay strong and let them see that he could take care of them alone.
It wasn't long after that that He was hired on to his first big case. A Sex Scandal between a judge and an under age teenage girl. He had won the case and his name was now plastered across newspapers. Job offers were thrown at him left and right, but he opened his own firm, a small one where anyone rich or poor could come for help.
Now at the age of 35 , he still is the major lawyer in his firm, and taking most of the cases. He also teaches Law at NYU, just classes over the expectations of a lawyer, how to be a successful one and things anyone needed to know to get into the Lawyer field.
III. sample postIt had been a very long day for Atticus Finch. 6 hours teaching, 6 hours working on cases and then an hour to get home. He didn't usually work long hours, he couldn't leave his kids waiting forever at daycare, but his sister was in town and hell bent on spending as much time out with the children as possible. Though Atticus did miss them, it was nice to be alone in the house for just a little while.
He was loosing the tie even before he got the door open. Keys wallet, and glasses were thrown carelessly onto the side table next to the door. He pulled the tie over his head and threw it into the dirty clothes hamper on his way down the hallway. He let out a soft sigh and bent over to grab a pair of jeans that had been slung onto the floor and put them into the hamper along with the tie. They must of belonged to Jem, Scout usually was the one to leave socks and shoes around.
The top two buttons of the dress shirt was the next to go, then the sleeves were rolled up to his elbow. He walked into the kitchen and set his briefcase on the table. He opened the fridge and grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge.
Atticus made his way into the living room and dropped down into his chair and let out a big sigh on relief. His head rolled back and he allowed himself to close his eyes and let his body sink into the chair's soft embrace.
The cases today had been rough, two sexual assaults, one divorce case, and one case against a car thief who stole a car with a child in it. All the faces of the victims ran through out his mind,. He pressed the water bottle to his eyes to keep the head ache from coming on. It was so hard sometimes to be strong, so hard to pretend nothing ever brought you down.
But he would continue to do it, as long as his children were his. Because they needed to see that they had someone strong to depend upon. Jem was not going to be like Atticus was at his age. He wanted his son to have fun and play with his friends, not sewing his sister's ripped doll together because they couldn't waste the money to buy a new one.
So Atticus would be strong, even if he broke when he was alone.
Just then he heard the door slam open and the patter of feet running into the house, and the yelling of a girl to her brother. Setting the water down on the end table, he prepared to be bombarded by his children, and smiled at the feeling he got just thinking about their smiling faces.
