00V. description William just recently learned how to dress. He was always the kind of person to wear extremely ugly (and I mean just down right repulsive) outfits on a day to day basis. Ugly clothes seem to suit him and he actually pulled them off. After a while, though, he relearned what fashion was and is doing better in that department. It was his job that made him dress a little nicer, working for the NYPD and what not. William wears clothes that make him look a little thinner than he is. He's broad shouldered, almost barrel chested, anyways, so anything to smooth him out is good. For work, a simple, solid colored button-down and dark slacks with a obscenely colored or patterned tie (he has to keep a bit of ugly in his wardrobe). For his off days, a t-shirt and jeans. Ugly clothes or not, he keeps it simple.
He walks with swagger. William is swagger when it comes down to it. The way he smiles seems to draw people in, and he carries himself with such outright confidence that it's hard for people not to take a notice in him. He likes the attention, really, which is why he presents himself in that manner. Plus, people automatically assume he's short for some reason so he likes carrying himself tall; he is not short, he is nearly six feet tall. Sometimes he wears glasses; he doesn't like glasses because it makes him look like his father (more on that later) but his eyes are going and contacts feel funny.
00I. overall personality Personality wise, William is annoying. Just in general, he's open and obnoxious. He doesn't really care much for the feelings of others and isn't afraid to tell you exactly what he thinks and when he thinks it and is honest about it. Sometimes, well, most of the time, this causes him to have few, if none, friends. But he is extremely charming and charismatic. When you first meet him, you find yourself gravitating towards him. Then he opens his big mouth. And then you get conflicted with his bubbly personality and his lack of filter on his mouth. But at least he's honest and that gives him points.
Apart from being annoying, he's generally a good guy. He's loyal, which does him well in the police department. William has power in places in the department that others don't; namely, the basement is his domain with all the dead people. If he likes you, he can speed up your tests, and if he doesn't, then he'll accidentally forget them. It's a little wrong, but no one complains because, well, William likes just about everyone. Sometimes he gets stuck doing lab work, and even there he has power.
William likes drinking. He knows he shouldn't because of his temper, but he still does it. The day he gets like his father, though, is the day he'll quit drinking for good. But until then, he will go out and party like the next guy. Along with his drinking, William's stomach is a bottomless pit. He can eat just about anything, and will, except for peanuts. He has mixed chemicals together in the lab and tested them himself to see what they did. So far, none were lethal.
He is also a womanizer. And a... manizer? William just likes people. He'll date just about anyone who'll make him happy. Man, woman, transsexual, anyone who makes him happy. He can go out to a bar and pick up anyone he wants to take home with him.
A passion of his is playing soccer. He played through school as a goalie, so he's quick on his feet. However, he happens to be a chain smoker, so his lungs aren't what they used to be. William can blow through two packs of menthol cigarettes in half a day. He is also really bad with directions. He still gets lost going around New York, having to call up a friend for help quite often.
Another thing William likes to do is tell stories. He can go on and on about basically nothing, but they way he gets in to his stories draws people in. He'll tell a story about his day or some stupid thing he did in England, or even how he found El Dorado if you gave him the chance.
0II. strengths Loyal, ambitious, playful, lack of fear, intelligent, bilingual, speedy
III. weaknesses Narcolepsy, curiosity, impatience, short tempered, has a fine line between being a happy drunk and a mean drunk, allergic to peanuts, afraid of clowns.
0IV. goals The appeal of marriage has always been in the back of his mind.

0II. overall history
William was born in London, England. His father Gregory was native to Wales, and his mother Karen was born in Paris, so William grew up in both England and France. He can speak French fluently from when he decided to run away and explore during the family reunions rather than just stay put. When William turned five, he was diagnosed with narcolepsy, a sleeping disorder where the person falls asleep at random. He has been known to fall asleep in the middle of eating, showering, fighting, and he finds it totally amusing.
Gregory wasn't the best father. As a matter of fact, he might have been the worst. His relationship with Karen was abusive, turning more violent the more he drank. The Porthos moved to Baltimore after deciding that moving to the United States would help mend the relationship between Gregory and Karen. Unfortunately, their relationship worsened. Charlie never moved to Baltimore with his family; being seven years older than Will, he joined the Royal Air Force and was stationed in Indonesia with his uncle Patrick. Gregory wasn't pleased with that.
When Charlie was killed in action after a plane mishap, Karen decided that living with her husband was no longer an option. So she packed her bags and abandoned Gregory and William one night. Gregory, struck with grief, was determined not to lose another family member. He turned his abuse to William, feeling that if he was hitting his son, then he was physically there with him. It was weird, but William suffered through it so Gregory wouldn't go after his mother. Despite all of that, William is still a happy-go-lucky kind of guy.
When he turned nineteen, he was shot by Gregory, which punctured a lung. After being treated, William moved to New York City to get away. He found his footing and had a pretty stable life within a year. William applied and attended college, obtaining his medical degree in eight years time. He became a Doctor of Health Science, and applied for a job at the NYPD as a medical examiner.
For fun, William worked on a pilots license. In his spare time he skydives, so getting a pilots license would be easy. He doesn't work as a pilot, but he has been known to teach certain people how to skydive.
Even though he is a narcoleptic, he has a good handle on it. Due to his job with the NYPD, he no longer takes amphetamines and just drinks coffee and other caffenated beverages before doing anything involving an airplane or other high risk situations. He'll still fall asleep at work though.
III. sample postDead people didn't talk which made them the perfect listeners. All they did was sit there, sometimes with their eyes open, sometimes not. But they didn't interrupt, which is what made them appealing to Will. God knew he liked to talk, and every time he got a new stiff from upstairs, he had to make friends.
Mr. Matthew DuBois, aged fifty-seven years old, was his new friend. He came in with two holes in his chest, bruises on his arms, and dirt on his knees, rear-end, and back. Basically, from what Will could see, he was shot once, piercing just right of his heart, and he fell to his knees. When the attacker saw he was still alive, another shot was given, directly to his heart, and he fell backwards. Or so it appeared. Matthew had no criminal records. Just some boring older gentleman, divorced with two kids in their twenties. And no money in his pockets. Must have been a mugging.
"You were a fiery old man, weren't you?" Will asked, taking the man's name-tag off of his shirt and setting it aside. He worked at an insurance agency. Easy job. "Shot twice, so you must have put up some sort of fight."
Will carefully disrobed the man, watching for anything interesting to fall out of the pockets. Oh look, red underwear. Fiery indeed. Will laughed a bit before getting those off also. Once he was in his birthday suit, Will could really inspect the injuries. One of the bullet wounds had powder burns around it. Shot with the gun directly against the man's shirt. It burned skin, so it was very intentional.
"Shoulda called for help, pal. Did you know the guy who shot you? You weren't far from a pretty busy bus stop." Will brushed a gloved hand against the wounds. If he was alive and kicking, he would certainly be howling. Will knew from experience. "I gotta clean you up, fella. Well, I need those bullets first."
Will smiled and grabbed a pair of tweezers. It was time to go fishing.
