00V. description Cherry comes from the "rich part of town." West Windrixville. Automatically you think of large houses and blouses made of thin gold. That's not the case in all houses. Cherry dresses casually but there is an obvious revelation that her clothes don't come cheap. She is normally found in dresses and skirts, jeans in the winter along with long sleeves. She cares for her appearance but she doesn't put in hours worth of effort.
Her cherry red hair is almost always hanging free, it's found in an up-do when it's horribly hot or an event calls for it. Her face isn't done up much, she wears makeup but not as some Greasers. Cherry doesn't try to look like she comes from the wealthy part of town, but she also doesn't like to look dirty and plain. She finds a middle ground at most times when she can.
00I. overall personality Cherry is a very loveable person, almost like a mother to everyone. She's independent and she's not afraid to show what she believes in. Okay, maybe she is a little but that's only in certain situations. Perhaps a better sentence would be to say how she's skilled in standing up for herself and others in situations she'd rather not get involved in. Cherry thinks before she acts, rarely does she make a rash decision unless it's in a moment of extreme anger or sadness and sometimes even happiness. Back onto the topic of her beliefs, depending on the situation, she will stand up for something she believes in.
Unfortunately, this makes her a bit of an outcast with people on "her side of the tracks" but still well-liked nonetheless.
In her schooling(this being her final year of high school), Cherry excells in her studies as she always has. Distractions from school or her work are things such as boys or gossip, which is quite normal for the average teenage girl. As for after school activities, Cherry is a cheerleader. It's one of her favourite pastimes and she's enjoyed it her high school career. She also enjoys spending time with friends and reading.
As every person in the world, Cherry has fears. Her fears can range from rational to irrational such as a fear of insects to falling off a cliff. Though Cherry has a large dislike for most insects she doesn’t become petrified at the sight of them, unless its a spider that is. She becomes to still at the sight of one she could be passed as a statue. Other fears are simple ones: being alone and losing loved ones. One thing that Cherry Valance cannot stand beyond anything are weapons and fighting, and she wishes with all her heart they didn't exist.
0II. strengths
Strengths? Cherry has strengths as does every human being. Be those physical or personality strengths. Cherry is very friendly and gives everyone the benefit of the doubt. She's the friend that will encourage you to follow your dream and be there every step of the way. Her family and friends are also strengths. Out of the personality strengths, Cherry is fairly talented at writing and cheerleading. Both, of which, happen to be her favourite past times.
III. weaknesses Cherry has two main weaknesses fighting and sundaes. When it comes to fighting, pure physical fighting not words, she becomes at almost a complete loss for words unless she's shouting for them to stop. It's something she can't stand to watch. Sundaes, on the other hand, is a sugary, delicious treat that Cherry will gladly devour when given. The girl has a sweet tooth! For ice cream at least. Another main weakness Cherry faces is her family, she cannot watch them be in pain and would go to the very ends of the earth for them.
0IV. goals As a young adult, Cherry has a few goals that can be life changing such as becoming an author and getting married with children when she’s ready. Whatever the achievement is though, Cherry always supports herself and those around her.
00I. notable family & friends Parents: Mary-Ann and Wilbur Valance
Best Friend: Marcia
Crush: Ponyboy Curtis
0II. overall history Sherri Valance was born to very excited parents, more than happy to welcome a beautiful, little girl into her home. With her being their first child, there was no doubt that the wealthy family would shower her with love and gifts. She was their princess and receive what ever she wished. By the color of her red hair, she was earned the nickname of "Cherry."
The spoiling got old very soon as Cherry grew older. Her parents watched her every move, they could even e classified as over-protective. She didn't like being "smothered" by her mother and father. Sherri wanted to go out without having to play 20-Questions. "Where are you doing?" "With whom?" "What time will we be expecting you home?" "What will you be doing there?" "How are you getting there, Sherri Valance?"
All the questions made her push away from her parents, desperate for a night without questions. Fortunately, pushing away seemed to allow her to have the occasional night/day along with making brand new friends, getting a mind of her own.
As she got into high school, the division between Socs and Greasers were even more divided. It was difficult, being a cheerleader and dating Bob Sheldon but also disapproving of things that were happening between the crowds. A lot of Socs didnt understand why she tried to stand up for the lower class and Greasers. Cherry just wasn't like them.
Through her years, Cherry found herself straying away from her relationship with Bob and broke up with him. The drinking, the fighting, it just didnt settle well with her and realized she was beginning to stop loving him. After the break-up, things were rocky, but with Marcia and the other girls, Cherry was never alone for very long. The teenager focuses on her writing and studies while just living life knowing that at any moment is could be over.
III. sample postCherry sighed happily as she sat on a bench in the park, the sky was a shocking blue and not a cloud was in the sky. The sun shone down on the ground and warmed her skin. It was nice, days like this when the world was filled with the business of the day but there was not a care in the world.
Her hands were folded neatly in her lap, the light color of her skin resting on the yellow fabric of her dress. What did Cherry Valance have to worry about? On this park bench, she was away from the rivals of the Greasers and the Socs. She wasnt "Cherry Valance: The Soc" or "Cherry Valance: The Cheerleader." She was just...well...Cherry Valance. A smile was on her light pink lips and she slid her hand into the tote bag that was beside her. The sunlight bounced off her ring and smacked her in the eye, closing her to blink wildly and slip her hand further into the bag as if not to endure that short pain again. Finally, her fingers grasped what she had been looking for and she pulled out a book.
The book was rather thick and it dawned a nice red color, words imprinted with gold lettering on the front. It looked dull and boring, but then again, sometimes dull and boring was a good thing. Hanging from the bottom of the book was a red ribbon and Cherry slipped her nail between it and the pages, opening to her page. "Chapter thirteen." she murmured, her voice lost in the light breeze, chirping of birds and carried voices of other people.
Today was going to be an excellent day.
