REWRITE YOUR STORY !
Below is the application and some guidelines for getting your character accepted. Please read them.
Note: WIP apps stay sitting for two weeks unless otherwise permission before they are archived.
CANON GUIDELINES !
If you mention any other characters in your canon, be mindful that their names may change in the actual RP. Because they aren't played by anyone at the moment, their names are generic and could be changed by the Rper, if they so choose. It might be a good idea to focus on your character only as much as you can in the history.
Note that if you're the first person reinventing a tale in your canon, you set the tone for everyone else in your canon. For instance, if you're the only person who has applied for a character in Hamlet and want to make the 'empire' a company, everyone picking a character from Hamlet after you must assume this to be true. Therefore, it might be a good idea to check other accepted apps in your canon if there are any.
If you are dead set on creating a character from a canon that is not on this list, please go here to request it. Your request will be taken into serious consideration, but not always approved.
If you need help "reinventing," visit our newbie guide or ask a staff member.
ORIGINAL GUIDELINES !
We are picky about OCs. Because we have a site full of classic and well developed characters, it is only fair for us to be really selective about OCs. Not that an OC needs to be as good as a classic canon, but some serious thought should be put into the app.
So before you make an OC, you must know that it's probably much easier to take a canon character and reinvent it. Though if you chose to do an OC Remember:
- Just like the canons, OCs should have a relevant, developed personality and history. They should have a purpose on their own right (not just, for example, made to have a romance with a canon character).
- Connections help!
The more you already immerse the character in the world, the easier it is for you to gain footing. For instance, instead of making just a randomer OC, you could have an OC that is a Soc or a Greaser, a Capulet or a Montague, a worker for Hamlet Enterprises or a worker at the Cat Scratch Club. - With that said, we strongly discourage OCs that create non existent relatives and lovers for canon characters. For instance, if you're thinking about making Ichabod Crane's long lost brother, don't bother. Or if you try to add your character to another character's past without permission from that rper, your application will be denied.
So please think about these things BEFORE making an application for an original character. Thank you!
