I'm always curious about how people feel about Rping in general, or their personal techniques for RPing. So yeah, lets see what people are about Rping wise! NOTE: Do not post links/advertise here. Thanks!1. Have you ever RPed before becoming a member of RC (Rewritten City)? If so, where? 2. How would you best describe your role playing style to someone who wanted to know? What are your strong suits in role playing/what are you best at/what comes easy for you (when playing your character(s))? 5. On Sarah
1. Have you ever RPed before becoming a member of RC (Rewritten City)? If so, where?
I've been Rping seriously for two years come Monday! Yay! the website I'm most active on is Hogwarts: The Enchanted Curse. I did once try to make my own site, Salem Witches' Academy, and though it still technically exists, it never went anywhere. That's about it, but I've had as many as twenty characters between the two (maybe a little less).
2. How would you best describe your role playing style to someone who wanted to know? (in general, not based on any specific character).
Long-winded. I tend to go on tangents. Usually they're not boring to read, but I tend to get really into the inner-working of the character and I might touch on information that isn't even very relevent to the thread. My average post-length to 4-6 paragraphs. Chunky paragraphs.
3. What stylistic choices do you make in regards to your character (s)? (for instance, based on what you know from your canon, how do you incorporate that information into RPing?)
Well, I don't usually play canons, but with Eponine I had the benefit of there already being a couple of interpretations. I could then combine or add or change based on what already existed. I really like to be true to the canon, but I may add some past experiences that will add further depth to the character. Like I said above, I tend to be long-winded. Often, I may not even have made up my mind about something until I have written it into a post. My characters often grow deeper with use.
4. What are your strong suits in role playing/what are you best at/what comes easy for you (when playing your character(s))?
It's easy for me to place myself in the character's shoes. Sometimes I will pretend that I am doing what the character is doing in order to better represent him/her. Character development is my strongest suit, and I'm pretty good at not making Mary-Sues. I feel the flaws of the character are often the most interesting part. I mean, according to the Litmus Test one of my characters on the other site is pretty Mary-Sueish, but not in a too-good way. I also love to write in general, so I get creative with my word usage and my length is usually pretty good (or too long).
5. What are you worst at/need to improve when it comes to role playing/what comes difficult for you (when playing your character(s))?
Sometimes I don't like to see the flaws of my characters, and I get too caught up in the ideal. What I would like to happen isn't always what happens. Usually this is okay with me and it maks it more exciting, but I tend to want the coolest thing to happen instead of what's more realistic. So I've got to work on coming down to earth sometimes.
6. What is the most memorable (in your opinion) RPing moment involving your character(s) thus far? Or what do you feel was personally your best roleplaying moment thus far with your character(s)? If you're NEW, what do you look forward doing with your character?
Hmmm ... Well, I did enjoy falling into the New York Harbor and being fished out by Dorian Gray ... unfortunately that thread died. Aside from that, I like roleplaying with Fagin in his thread with Dr. Doolittle because it really represents how 'Ponine acts around people she knows instead of just people she's only just met.
7. What are your biggest pet peeves about RPing (mention no names! LOL) ?
Run-on sentences/comma splices. They drive me nuts. It bothers me when people combine two clauses that should be different sentences with only a comma, because it makes the writing sound hurried and amateurish. Of course, if the person doesn't know they're doing it or only does it once in a while, I don't mind as much, but when the whole post is made of run-on sentences it irritates me. Mary-Sues also bother me, but I've been fortunate not to run into too many of those.
8. Do prefer role plays that progress slowly or ones that move along at a steady, fast pace? (basically, do you like casual or fast? )
I tend to get REALLY impatient in regards to when someone replies to threads, so I suppose you could call me a fast-paced person. Conversely, I'm not crazy about it when something happens so fast that it seems unrealistic. I can always adapt, but I'm typically fast-paced.
9. Are there other types of RPs you'd like to do (besides literature/theater/myths and legends--besides Rewritten City) or others that you already do? What type of role plays would you never do? (please do not post links to other boards)
The ones that I've done in the past are primarily Harry Potter AU Future RPs, with no canons, in which we only use the universe but have an entirely unique plotline. I'd like to do other fandom RPs, like the Mortal Instruments series, or a mythology RP, but sometimes they are overwhelmed with canons and there is little flexibility.
10. Do prefer to type out long, detailed replies to your role plays, medium-length replies, or short ones?
I'm pretty sure I've already answered this question. lol! I go on and on and on and on and on ...
11. If you could pick up another character (taken or not), which would you try and why?
Ohhh good question. Something Shakespeare, I believe, like Helena from All's Well That Ends Well or Viola for Twelfth Night. They would be interesting to reinvent.
12. What time of day do you tend to write best?
Evening. I'm a night owl. I get all my muse at night. Though I have to be off the computer by nine, I might write replies on paper before bed and accidentally stay up too late. O__o
13. Have you learned more about yourself as a writer from RPing? If so, What?
I love to create characters, and I love how they interact with other characters. I also tend to put my characters trhough hardship to make them grow or disocver more about themselves.
14. What do you love most about Rewritten City? Why do you RP here?
Classics! Classics do not get nearly enough attention, and the idea of recreating them into a modern setting is both original and unique. I also love sites with a great sense of community, and this is one of the best I've seen when it comes to that. I've never been on a site with so many theatre geeks before! Yay!

Post by THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO on Apr 2, 2010 14:08:04 GMT -5
1. Have you ever RPed before becoming a member of RC (Rewritten City)? If so, where?I've been RPing for a couple of years now. Can't recall where I started out exactly, but I got serious about it after meeting someone on NationStates who pushed me and taught me to write better. Then a friend referred me to another ProBoards site, and I went on to create my own site, and I found RC through an ad there. 2. How would you best describe your role playing style to someone who wanted to know? (in general, not based on any specific character). My characters essentially live in my brain, and I run all sorts of little scenarios to see how they respond. Then I apply what I learn there to what's going on in the characters' threads. Depending on the case, I usually try to be very descriptive, but I write from the characters' sort of speech, so it varies widely. 3. What stylistic choices do you make in regards to your character (s)? (for instance, based on what you know from your canon, how do you incorporate that information into RPing?)This is the only canon character I play at the moment- it's an interesting change. I apply Monte Cristo's typical mannerisms to everything- how he talks, how he regards other people, how he thinks. It's not as difficult as it could be, since he's so set in his ways. As for the actual story, I just use it as a background; it rarely comes up, I've found. 4. What are your strong suits in role playing/what are you best at/what comes easy for you (when playing your character(s))?I'm best at what I know. It's easy for me to connect with my moody, unstable characters, because that's what I am myself. Monte Cristo is a challenge, because he never vents his moodiness and is actually quite stable. What I guess I'm saying is, my strong suit is describing what I've actually experienced. 5. What are you worst at/need to improve when it comes to role playing/what comes difficult for you (when playing your character(s))?I have difficulty channeling my characters sometimes, especially when there is nothing dire going on, which results in short posts. I've seen writers on other sites who are capable of writing six thousand words (!!!!!) and yet remain interesting and on-topic. I'm hoping to get that strong a connection to my characters one day, but right now there are physical and psychological barriers that keep me from doing so. 6. What is the most memorable (in your opinion) RPing moment involving your character(s) thus far? Or what do you feel was personally your best roleplaying moment thus far with your character(s)? If you're NEW, what do you look forward doing with your character?I'm really not sure. I haven't had to push Monte Cristo's boundaries yet, which is something I'm looking forward to doing. So far, I'd say the whole unexpected-date-night fiasco with Juliet is probably the most interesting thing that's happened to him so far... hopefully, that will change soon. *evil grin* 7. What are your biggest pet peeves about RPing (mention no names! LOL) ?I dislike it when others give me very little to go on in their posts. Oh, I've done it before, and I understand completely- sometimes you just don't have the time or the muse to keep the plot moving. When that happens, I'd rather you not post at all, and just wait until something better comes to you. (Ever wonder why I disappear for a couple of days at a time?? lol) 8. Do prefer role plays that progress slowly or ones that move along at a steady, fast pace? (basically, do you like casual or fast? )I prefer fast-paced threads. They keep me interested and provide me with a better muse. Also, I'm an impatient sort of person anyway. 9. Are there other types of RPs you'd like to do (besides literature/theater/myths and legends--besides Rewritten City) or others that you already do? What type of role plays would you never do? (please do not post links to other boards)I'm a fantasy junkie. The site I run and the site I currently frequent are both fantasy. I've always been into fantasy (superpowers, alternate worlds, etc)- I even have a novel I'm working on in that genre. But I think if I tried a modern-day, romance-type or realistic-type RP, or a standard war-reenactment RP, I would quit from boredom within a week. 10. Do prefer to type out long, detailed replies to your role plays, medium-length replies, or short ones?I love long replies. It ties into something from NationStates- it's probably an inside joke, but essentially, we found that writing long posts scared off the newbies. That is to say, I love long replies that are detailed and going somewhere. A thousand words that could actually be stated with two hundred would not impress me. 11. If you could pick up another character (taken or not), which would you try and why?I'm definitely planning to take on the narrator from Poe's "The Raven." I like RPing random and crazy characters, because their possible range of reactions is so wide and varied. Plus, that poem is just awesome. Poe's best, after "The Bells." 12. What time of day do you tend to write best?I seem to do better at night, simply because that is when I have always written, not only in RPing but writing fiction in general. Or maybe I get power from the moon or something. Who knows? 13. Have you learned more about yourself as a writer from RPing? If so, What? Thanks to the various role models and peers I have come across since taking up RPing, I have learned that my original method of describing things was quite bland and boring. This is something I'm working on. I've also learned to access my characters' minds, instead of just assuming what they would do. It seems to work much better in general. 14. What do you love most about Rewritten City? Why do you RP here? RC is unique in so many ways. It's got an original premise, which, if you're familiar with ProBoards and its sites, you know is a true gem. And the community is just awesome- it's the only site I've come across (apart form my own!) that really does have a warm, friendly staff. Also, the layout of the site is very clean, which makes my OCD happy.
So, thanks for welcoming me into the fold.

1. Have you ever RPed before becoming a member of RC (Rewritten City)? If so, where?
I've been roleplaying for around six years; best years of my life. XD I began roleplaying on Neopets (-facepalm-) but since then have roleplayed on a couple of other forums (Unashamed Felinity, NeoNeo Roleplays, Argent Academy). There's probably a couple more but my memory fails me.
2. How would you best describe your role playing style to someone who wanted to know? (in general, not based on any specific character).
I try to make my posts long but not overly so. Strangely enough although I am a writer I oftentimes have difficulty writing long roleplay posts. -shrug- My average post length is probably three small to medium sized paragraphs including dialogue. -head desk- Got to work on that.
3. What stylistic choices do you make in regards to your character (s)? (for instance, based on what you know from your canon, how do you incorporate that information into RPing?)
Since I've played Fagin and have been a huge fan of his character for years I love interpreting him in different ways and 'acting' as him once again. I tend to incorporate a lot from canon but also throw in a lot of my own interpretations as well.
4. What are your strong suits in role playing/what are you best at/what comes easy for you (when playing your character(s))?
I'd say my strong suits in roleplaying, as in writing, are my uses of language and vocabulary, although at times it may be a smidge old fashioned. When playing my characters I find it is easy to feel how they would, as I become very attached to them. XD
5. What are you worst at/need to improve when it comes to role playing/what comes difficult for you (when playing your character(s))?
When the situation in the roleplay is relatively normal or little is happening I tend to write short posts that lack substance as I'm not sure what else to put. D:
6. What is the most memorable (in your opinion) RPing moment involving your character(s) thus far? Or what do you feel was personally your best roleplaying moment thus far with your character(s)? If you're NEW, what do you look forward doing with your character?
My most memorable moment thus far is my thread with Doolittle and Eponine (my only thread thus far but by no means lacking in win!) I love having Fagin act all awkwardly around a posh bloke like Doolittle, and I also like exploring his relationship with Eponine. In future I can envision him getting into some tricky situations which will take a very cunning plan to get out of. =P
7. What are your biggest pet peeves about RPing (mention no names! LOL) ?
Hmmm... Probably characters that like to be the centre of attention all the time. Like Mary Sues and whatnot. That's what I'm trying to say. ^^
8. Do prefer role plays that progress slowly or ones that move along at a steady, fast pace? (basically, do you like casual or fast? )
It depends on what characters are involved and what the plot is. I'm usually online everyday, so I like roleplays that move quite quickly so I can reply every day and have a reply waiting for me when I get back. ^^
9. Are there other types of RPs you'd like to do (besides literature/theater/myths and legends--besides Rewritten City) or others that you already do? What type of role plays would you never do? (please do not post links to other boards)
I don't have many roleplays I enjoy doing; I tend to stick to the theatre/literature genres. I would probably never do anything sci fi as it's not my type of genre, or anything that involved excessive swearing/violence/romantic stuff. Not really my cup of tea. Generally. There may be exceptions in the future; we'll have to wait and see.
10. Do prefer to type out long, detailed replies to your role plays, medium-length replies, or short ones?
My replies are generally in the short/medium range but I'd love to make them longer so my fellow roleplayers have more to work with. =)
11. If you could pick up another character (taken or not), which would you try and why?
Oooh, I have no idea! XD I have so many characters that I adore.
Richard III, with all his love of duplicitousness and the fact he's determined to be a villain. Or is he? I love the complexity of his character, not to mention reciting his soliloquies to anyone who'll listen.
Henry Stafford, Duke of Buckingham- the fact that he seems as amoral as Richard but hesitates at the last moment, that fascinates me. He has a heart after all and realizes he's done wrong. I also love all his eloquent speeches and spindoctoryness; everyone trusts him so he can spin them round his little finger. FUN.
George Plantagenet, Duke of Clarence - In history he was a bit of a nasty piece of work, but in Shakespeare he comes across as very loving, naive and very very trusting...too trusting as it turns out. I would love to reinvent him in modern day NYC, doubtless his too trusting nature would get him into lots of amusing situations.
Yes, I'm obsessed with Richard III. XD
Although I have to say I wouldn't say no to taking on another Dickens character; either Jacob Marley or one of the Christmas Ghosts.
Ooh, or someone from Pride & Prejudice. I adore that novel. Probably Lady Catherine de Bourgh, or Mr. Collins. Or maybe Bingley? All my friends like Darcy but I'm a big fan of Bingley. :3
When the time comes I would like some help in the descision making process. Thankies in advance. ^^
12. What time of day do you tend to write best?
I usually end up replying in the early evening due to school, but I've been known to stay up roleplaying till three in the morning!
13. Have you learned more about yourself as a writer from RPing? If so, What?
I've learned I have a fondness for getting my characters into sticky situations to see how they react. XD I also simply love creating, inventing and tweaking characters, whether of my own invention or of others. Funfunfun.
14. What do you love most about Rewritten City? Why do you RP here?
This site is full of friendly and fun members all willing to lend a helping hand, whether with graphics (Juliet, John and Mimi helping me get my picture on my application) and plots (Sarah/Eponine), not to mention a unique and brilliant concept; literary and theatrical figures recreated in a modern context. What's not to like?
Once again, thank you one and all for making me feel welcome here; I love you all! ^^

1. Have you ever RPed before becoming a member of RC (Rewritten City)? If so, where?
Actually, yes, I have! I've been RPing since May-ish of seventh grade, which was...two years ago, I think. I remember that my laptop (the one I'm typing on right now, it was saved!) fell off my bed while I was playing World of Warcraft, so while it was getting fixed, I had nothing to do. We got school laptops that year, so I just played around with that a bit, but one of the only sites it let me go on was Nanowrimo. XD So that's where I RPed. Just recently, I've started RPing on Facebook (which is illegal, but oh well).
I think RC is definitely my favorite so far. 2. How would you best describe your role playing style to someone who wanted to know? (in general, not based on any specific character).Well, since most of the literature I've ever read is old timey, my writing style is pretty formal. I, as the narrator, am pretty sarcastic. Most of my posts before RC where usually mostly dialogue; none of my characters really thought about anything because...well...it's RPing. Now I'm kind of forced to have them think, which is a good thing. I really love RPing because it's like you're putting your character in a real-life situation; you have no idea what the next person is going to say or do, even if you know the person well. 3. What stylistic choices do you make in regards to your character (s)? (for instance, based on what you know from your canon, how do you incorporate that information into RPing?)Well...in regards to RC, it's pretty easy to squeeze a serial killer into New York. When the original Jack the Ripper began his killings, it was a big-ass deal! I mean, it made headlines in America (across the ocean!) and it was basically a world-wide phenomenon. People had never seen something this gruesome, this sad. Of course, it doesn't have the same effect in RPing (to most people, some people have stopped talking to me all-together) because we're all from the modern world where things like that...well, they happen. Off of RC, it's very hard to play Victor--because everyone either wants a romance with him or they right away want to arrest him. On Nano, I'd been in a thread for...oh, maybe two or three posts, before one of the other characters was all like, "He's suspicious, I bet he has something to do with the killings!" Meanwhile, Victor is just acting like a completely normal guy.
Oops, I went off on a ramble there. Anyway, it's easy to incorporate everything (since most of it I can just make up--they never caught Jack) it's just that, in the modern world, he has to be much more careful about fingerprints and whatnot. 4. What are your strong suits in role playing/what are you best at/what comes easy for you (when playing your character(s))?Well, for me, Victor is relatively easy and fun to play for a few reasons: - He's a total creepshow, and we have that in common.
- He's Jack the Ripper. I'm knowledgeable in that area, trust me xD
- His dialogue is usually witty/clever, which I'm good at writing (though, somehow, I can't come up with it when I'm actually talking).
- He's my OC, so I'm not restricted by things in canon--I feel like I know him really well.
So, the overall creepiness of him, the witty talk, and of course the blood. I'm only really good at writing horror. Sadly. 5. What are you worst at/need to improve when it comes to role playing/what comes difficult for you (when playing your character(s))?
PHFF- Only everything! First of all, I'm the Queen of One-Liners, which makes my posts unusually short, which means it seems like Victor's a really shallow character. I swear he's not. D: Besides that, I have this habit of godmodding without even noticing, like:
Victor tapped the girl on the shoulder. When she looked up, he smiled.
The looking up isn't anything major, but I know I do it, and I know it bugs the hell out of people.
I also have an unreasonably hard time staying in character. I mean, some of my storylines just beg Victor to be OOC. Like the one I have with Ponyboy. Victor is not that talkative; he's an observer. I don't think he would even bother talking to the kid. See? I'm an idiot. 6. What is the most memorable (in your opinion) RPing moment involving your character(s) thus far? Or what do you feel was personally your best roleplaying moment thus far with your character(s)? If you're NEW, what do you look forward doing with your character?Wulp, Izzi is brand-spankin'-new, so I haven't done anything interesting in the past week or so. But, of course, we all know what I'm looking forward to-- His letters! I'm so psyched to send his letters. It's basically the only thing that keeps me writing these gory ol' oneshots of prozzies getting the blade. Really, to be honest? I'm psyched about everything. You can't even comprehend how much I love Jack the Ripper. And now I get to be him? 7. What are your biggest pet peeves about RPing (mention no names! LOL) ?Well, I believe I've mentioned that I hate the whole "I find him suspicious!" nonsense. Because, no. You don't. You idiot.
Besides that, though, I knew this girl on Nano who had a billion different characters, but they were all the same personnnn! They had the exact same personality no matter ho they were or what they did. We were in a Phantom RP together and she had this character named Erika, right? She was unbearably bland; they all were shy but spunky, had some sort of dark history with their families, got hurt a lot, always had some sort of scar or something, and were all timid and BLAH. It was really only my characters who brought any life to that RP. And it still wasn't that good.
I rambled again. Pet peeves, pet peeves...When people tell me I'm not playing my character right--and yes, that has happened. I've heard "Why would anyone do that?" and "He's too mean!" Why don't you shut up and learn to play your own character right!
Oh, yeah. And I hate OOCness. 8. Do prefer role plays that progress slowly or ones that move along at a steady, fast pace? (basically, do you like casual or fast? )I find that I'm a really unfair RPer; I like people to post for me right away, but I'm lazy and don't post for them for a number of days. But, over all, I prefer fast roleplays. 9. Are there other types of RPs you'd like to do (besides literature/theater/myths and legends--besides Rewritten City) or others that you already do? What type of role plays would you never do? (please do not post links to other boards)I've been involved in every sort of RP you can imagine. Fantasy, sci-fi, modern, Victorian, steampunk, highschool-themed, serial killers (I liked that one, though I didn't use Jack xD), anything. I've RPed in a number of places too, including Facebook and some live-action stuff (as Luigi Largo and Jill the Ripper xD). 10. Do prefer to type out long, detailed replies to your role plays, medium-length replies, or short ones?Well, I would like to be able to write long replies all the time, but, unfortunately, I can't because I suck. I settle for short to medium. Sometimes the bare minimum. But it feels really good to write a long one. 11. If you could pick up another character (taken or not), which would you try and why? Well, we all know how I feel about Javert...who I'm going to take. Shall I talk about him for awhile? I think I shall. Well, first of all, he'd be a hell of a challenge. He's one of the most complex characters I've ever read, just because he's so hard to look through. The original description that Victor Hugo gives in the book doesn't even match what he actually acts like. XD In a nutshell, he's a badass with a bad past, who sticks to the law like it's flypaper. But that's not a very accurate description either. He's sort of like...the anti-Victor! Yes! And he's pretty non-social. xD
I'm not sure who else I'd pick up. I guess we'll see! 12. What time of day do you tend to write best?Night time...I'm a total night owl. 13. Have you learned more about yourself as a writer from RPing? If so, What?I've learned that there's a lot a lot of room for improvement. I've also learned that my topics, my humor, and my characters are either really strange or disturbing--something I actually never noticed before. It's not like I try to be a creeper! 14. What do you love most about Rewritten City? Why do you RP here? EVERYTHING! It's such a creative idea, and really challenging! Plus, all of the people on here are so welcoming and so nice, I can't even relate how much I love it here already. Everyone here is just so fantastic at writing, and all of their characters and ideas are so awesome. I RP here because it's fun. I don't feel obligated to or anything, I just enjoy more than I can say. Good job, guys.

1. Have you ever RPed before becoming a member of RC (Rewritten City)? If so, where? Oh yes. I've been RPing since I was 9 or 10. XD It was a Harry Potter site called Hogwarts: A Legacy? Or? Something? Blah. I know it had "Hogwarts" and "Legacy" in it. I remember having a character called Christine Avallone and she was a Slytherin....but had the traits of a Hufflepuff. Looking back now, I just facedesk at the monstrocity of a character I made. Because it didn't fit. Why they hell did they just follow my application when she obviously *wasn't* supposed to be there? I don't know. But eh. It happens! Site died out like... 3 years later.2. How would you best describe your role playing style to someone who wanted to know? (in general, not based on any specific character). I AM A DIALOGUE FREAK. Really. Like... 50% of my posts seem to be chocked full of my character saying something. I don't know if that's from reading scripts all the time or what, but I seemed to give them a lot to say. I also like to get in their head and have them reflect on prior circumstances relevant to the point they are at in the thread.3. What stylistic choices do you make in regards to your character (s)? (for instance, based on what you know from your canon, how do you incorporate that information into RPing?) Well, I have 9 characters. Not just on here, but on other sites. Each one is a special case, I guess. I regards to the fandom as well as the site around them. For example, I play Kurt Hummel from Glee on another site. Kurt has the same attitude, personality, but based on his setting- things are different. It's a Glee/Harry Potter crossover... so for him being in a different house than his boyfriend- Blaine, it's a very trying story. Not only is it distance that's an internal conflict, it's their interaction and overall house rivalry that changes aspects of their relationship. They're still the cutesy, contrasting couple of awesome on the show- but... yeah. And I also play James Potter Jr., Harry's son. He's only in the Epilogue of Deathly Hallows so all I've had was to draw from that. And I was given more freedom to create his history...which I love. AND THEN THERE IS MY BEAUTIFUL LO. I've been a fan since I was... well.. 12. XD HAHAH. I've read the book and seen the movies a good amount of millions of times. A sure change I've made here about her was... her heart. In the book, it's all Humbert. And she is seen as a promiscuous chick- really. And in the movie, it was softer- but the slutfactor was still here. On RC, I want to project that she isn't "just that hoe", I want to say, "Yes, she is like that... but there's this part to her that you don't know about." DEPTH IS LOVELY.4. What are your strong suits in role playing/what are you best at/what comes easy for you (when playing your character(s))? Thinking up interesting scenarios for characters. I'm the person who doesn't like threads like "oh, it's a beautiful day and it's going to be just a simple walk in the park." I love action, I love deep romance, I love saturating things and over exaggeration. But I know how to be subtle when the character needs to be. I COULD play Lo grabbing at Hum's crotch in a club, but a simple brush on their fingertips can be escalated to god knows what as well. Music does a lot. It's one of the many devices I use to find muse.5. What are you worst at/need to improve when it comes to role playing/what comes difficult for you (when playing your character(s))? When playing any character, I take a really long time to respond because I read over my post again and again to see if I have them down right. It gets really frustrating sometimes. AND IT DOESN'T HELP WHEN THE MUSE ISN'T COMING TO YOU. Even if your whole playlist is on repeat. Sometimes, when I'm working on a post, it take thrice as long because I get distracted from the world around me out of character. I need to be more efficient.6. What is the most memorable (in your opinion) RPing moment involving your character(s) thus far? Or what do you feel was personally your best roleplaying moment thus far with your character(s)? If you're NEW, what do you look forward doing with your character? CORRUPTING THE MEANINGS OF DISNEY SONGS. XD That's gonna be hella fun, I know it will be. I hope that everyone else will get the jokes Lo makes/performs too. I made Lo have Disney obsessions for a reason- it's the modern-day required childhood phase that everyone goes through. Although we've upped the stage from 12 to 16, I wanted her to still retain that likeness for the epitome of childish things. I'm also excited about playing out her internal conflict when she looks in the mirror. She loves mirrors because Lo loves how she looks, and knows very well about the powers in her beauty. But just once... I want her to stand in a department store with the triple mirrors, wearing something that covers her up (preferably a Belle-like gold number dress that trails the floor) and realize that there is so much more than just being the city slut people pay to see. That there is more than one side of being pretty. I'm also excited to RP her with Humbert, because I ALSO want her to calm down for a second and let someone take care of her for a change. This girl is too independent and strung high for her own good.7. What are your biggest pet peeves about RPing (mention no names! LOL) ? One-liners. When people play their characters out-of-character. Unnecessarily long posts about nothing at all. The usual crimes.8. Do prefer role plays that progress slowly or ones that move along at a steady, fast pace? (basically, do you like casual or fast? ) I don't mind? XDD I do like lengthy casuals though. Mostly because I have so much to do and there isn't any pressure. If it's fast, I'm afraid I'll do something wrong.... AGAIN. PERFECTIONIST. MUST READ DRAFT OF POST 305706455 times.9. Are there other types of RPs you'd like to do (besides literature/theater/myths and legends--besides Rewritten City) or others that you already do? What type of role plays would you never do? (please do not post links to other boards) Let's see, I'm on 5 Glee ones, 3 Harry Potter ones, 1 Disney One, and 1 Lit/theater/myths (this one!). I never do ones that really so heavily on pictures and coding and I absolutely HATE dohtml. Sure it looks pretty, but in some cases it takes away from the actual writing. I know, hypocrite seeing as I am a graphics person and my plotting page has pictures and my intro has pictures, but... lol I'm not the worst case out there. OH and it would help if it was a site where I was familiar with what it was based on. Obviously. I also don't do cliquey sites. I do sites where the members are friendly enough to get to know you in the cbox. I never do Mary Sue sites. Although, I'm on one Potter site where looking back at it seems to be dripping of flawless people (not in a good way), and....it disappoints me.10. Do prefer to type out long, detailed replies to your role plays, medium-length replies, or short ones? MATTERS ON THE MOOD. XDD I do, karma posting, so I have to match up to the person no matter what the length. I tend to go with large ones because I get to do "the wholeeeee picture" from my character's end AND I have the entertainment of reading the other person's reply. 11. If you could pick up another character (taken or not), which would you try and why? I would pick up Angel from RENT, Atticus Finch from To Kill A Mockingbird, or Viola from Twelfth Night. All are characters I would like to play from the top of my head. From the taken side, *looks at Canon list* Ophelia from Hamlet, Fitzwilliam Darcy from Pride and Prejudice, and Erik from Phantom of the Opera. XD I LOVE THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE THEM AND THEY DO A MARVELOUS JOB. *feels like she's going to be judged so hard now*12. What time of day do you tend to write best? 13. Have you learned more about yourself as a writer from RPing? If so, What? I'm awed by how many personas I can take up when writing. Yes. I think sometimes RP reveals sides of people they never knew they had. One of my characters- has a bit of an angry strike....and I looked at myself and knew at that point I had every reason to be AS angry with myself like the character. I thought I was an easy going person, but sometimes it's very different. XD I didn't know how upset I can be. With Lo, XD I think she can put forth my inner sex kitten. All the repressed lust appeal just pours out on that screen. She's a feisty, interesting one.14. What do you love most about Rewritten City? Why do you RP here? It's not like other RPs out there. The literary quality from what I've seen here is so immense. The community is welcoming and crazy! I love you all already! WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL MY LIFE! It's a bunch of our favorite worlds put together. Just.. wow!

1. Have you ever RPed before becoming a member of RC (Rewritten City)? If so, where?Yes, years and years ago. I first came across rp'ing in one of the chat rooms back in '99 and immediately made a character for myself. Haha, no one wanted to interact with my character at first, so I took her off to another chat room. A few months later, I returned to the first chat site and I guess my rp'ing had improved since she was kept very busy after that, getting caught up in a major quest. 2. How would you best describe your role playing style to someone who wanted to know? (in general, not based on any specific character).I'm not sure really. I like to be descriptive, painting pictures with words, so my posts will most likely be quite lengthy. I also like to reveal things slowly so that it follows true life more closely. You don't usually look at someone and immediately know all that they are about or are thinking. 3. What stylistic choices do you make in regards to your character (s)? (for instance, based on what you know from your canon, how do you incorporate that information into RPing?)I like to listen to the audio book while I'm writing Jiao's posts. It changes the style of language in my head, haha. It also helps to keep in mind my character's personality so that I don't go too far in one direction or another. 4. What are your strong suits in role playing/what are you best at/what comes easy for you (when playing your character(s))?I'd like to think that I'm good at reaction when it comes to my character. 5. What are you worst at/need to improve when it comes to role playing/what comes difficult for you (when playing your character(s))?I don't think I'm very good at 'god mod'-ing. Dialogue, to my mind, could also use some work, haha. 6. What is the most memorable (in your opinion) RPing moment involving your character(s) thus far? Or what do you feel was personally your best roleplaying moment thus far with your character(s)? If you're NEW, what do you look forward doing with your character?Still too early to say. I'll edit this part when it happens. 7. What are your biggest pet peeves about RPing (mention no names! LOL) ?Hmmm.... can't think of anything right now. 8. Do prefer role plays that progress slowly or ones that move along at a steady, fast pace? (basically, do you like casual or fast? ) Considering that I started out in chat rooms, I like my characters to move along at a good pace, but there's merit in taking your time too. 9. Are there other types of RPs you'd like to do (besides literature/theater/myths and legends--besides Rewritten City) or others that you already do? What type of role plays would you never do? (please do not post links to other boards)These days, all other rp's seem to fall flat to me. RC has inspired me out of a long hiatus. I haven't seen any other types of rp'ing that's intrigued me to pick up a pen again. 10. Do prefer to type out long, detailed replies to your role plays, medium-length replies, or short ones? It doesn't really matter to me, but I guess at least a medium-length would be good as it would give me something to write about in my own reply to them again, haha. 11. If you could pick up another character (taken or not), which would you try and why?I've got my hands full at the moment, haha. Maybe one of Jane Austin's books... probably something from Pride & Prejudice. 12. What time of day do you tend to write best?I think that I probably give my best attentions in the late afternoon. I have the least amount of distractions then. 13. Have you learned more about yourself as a writer from RPing? If so, What?I'll have to think on this and get back to it. 14. What do you love most about Rewritten City? Why do you RP here?I love that I can use a character from a canon that I love and read/listen to often. It gives me the opportunity to use a template that has already been made, but with the freedom to personalise it and really claim it for myself.

1. Have you ever RPed before becoming a member of RC (Rewritten City)? If so, where?
Back when I was an anime dork and still obsessed over Sailor Moon, I roleplayed on a SM forum as my self insert otaku (original) senshi Sailor Sakura. I also roleplay on facebook, but RC introduced me to REAL forum rping.
2. How would you best describe your role playing style to someone who wanted to know? (in general, not based on any specific character).
I tend to be eloquent, but not use words that most people don't understand. Big words, but not overly complicated ones. I always like to open and end on one poingant phrase that grabs the reader's attention. I do that for fanfiction as well. I like to seperate my long eloquent paragraphs with short, choppy, and stylistic sentences.
3. What stylistic choices do you make in regards to your character (s)? (for instance, based on what you know from your canon, how do you incorporate that information into RPing?)
Well, usually with Erik I end up choosing morbid and disturbing imagery to get my point across, often incoorperating music into his narrative. Sebastian's pretty much controlled by his visions AND James, so mostly every post has something to do with one of them. I'm just starting out with John, but he's very cranky and bitter, and uses sarcasm even in his inner monologue.
4. What are your strong suits in role playing/what are you best at/what comes easy for you (when playing your character(s))?
Hmm... I'm not sure. I'm pretty good with imagery, mostly. I LOVE writing dialogue, and it comes very naturally. I find I like growing into my characters and getting a feel for them. Both Erik and Sebastian have changed dramatically from when I first started out as them.
5. What are you worst at/need to improve when it comes to role playing/what comes difficult for you (when playing your character(s))?
I don't know much medical or scientific terminology, so whenever I play John or Seb, I usually pull stuff out of my ass and its kind of embarrassing. I tend to get OOC when my characters are in tough situations. I'm FAR too nice to my characters for my own good. Especially Sebastian.
6. What is the most memorable (in your opinion) RPing moment involving your character(s) thus far? Or what do you feel was personally your best roleplaying moment thus far with your character(s)? If you're NEW, what do you look forward doing with your character?
Two words: Moby. Dick.
7. What are your biggest pet peeves about RPing (mention no names! LOL) ?
When people think that they can control other people's characters. Not in the Godmodding sense, but when they think that the person isn't playing them correctly, or in canon. Its not your character, for God's sake! Geez.
8. Do prefer role plays that progress slowly or ones that move along at a steady, fast pace? (basically, do you like casual or fast? )
I always lable threads casual just in case I can't reply for a few days, but I prefer fast.
9. Are there other types of RPs you'd like to do (besides literature/theater/myths and legends--besides Rewritten City) or others that you already do? What type of role plays would you never do? (please do not post links to other boards)
I was on an Xmen forum as Sebastian, but I lost touch with Xmen, basically. I'm also on a victorian forum with Jilly, but we haven't been active much. I'm currently slowly trying to apply to a Sailor Moon forum. I'll never roleplay stupid real life type RPs. What's the point? Its not inventive!
10. Do prefer to type out long, detailed replies to your role plays, medium-length replies, or short ones?
Medium length, though lately with Sebastian I've been getting pretty wordy. He's my current muse for the week. XD
11. If you could pick up another character (taken or not), which would you try and why?
Scarlett O'Hara, hands down, if the canon was available. Also Dea from the Man who Laughs, if it was a canon. Jo March, even though she's taken. Um... I think that's it.
12. What time of day do you tend to write best?
At night.
13. Have you learned more about yourself as a writer from RPing? If so, What?
Yes definitely! I've most definitely grown, and I've realized that I'm not terrible. I used to think I was terrible at writing, but I've come to accept my style. And I've realized I was great at plotting things. People call me the plotting queen now.
14. What do you love most about Rewritten City? Why do you RP here?
.... You're really asking me this? This place... is my HOME. I do not know WHAT I would do without RC. Seriously. I love this place to death. I met some of my closest friends here (Kay, Al, Bri, Rain, Nessie, pretty much everyone), whom I trust a lot of them with my darkest secrets. There IS no other site like this. I also stay on because of Sebastian. He's like a son to me. This place... There are no words for how special this place is for me. No other site in the world can compare.

1. Have you ever RPed before becoming a member of RC (Rewritten City)? If so, where? Some-random-thing-base-on-a-not-very-good-James-Patterson-book. It was terrible. Almost all of the people there were illiterate morons. Without meaning to be harsh. At least I have an excuse. 2. How would you best describe your role playing style to someone who wanted to know? (in general, not based on any specific character). In my opinion, rather rambly. And I do have a tendency to go off topic quite suddenly. But I guess that fits in with Sherlock's character anyway, as he does seem to grow lost within his own head a lot. I can never write a full, block paragraph. I guess I'm just a lover for the 'enter' button, eh? And I tend to both start and end a post with just one sentence. 3. What stylistic choices do you make in regards to your character (s)? (for instance, based on what you know from your canon, how do you incorporate that information into RPing?) Sherlock is very eccentric, which isn't difficult at all to involve into the posts. As mentioned before, he does grow lost in his complicated excuse for a mind, meaning I can change the subject of whatever I was previously writing for absolutely-no-reason-at-all and it (should) still make sense. And many of the (non canon) habits he has are from me. :34. What are your strong suits in role playing/what are you best at/what comes easy for you (when playing your character(s))? Holmes' oddity, simple enough. Not only is it fun to write, but it tends to be quite easily. Depending on my mood, of course. After I've written the first paragraph or two, it seems to flow easier, which is fairly good. I suppose. 5. What are you worst at/need to improve when it comes to role playing/what comes difficult for you (when playing your character(s))? Starting posts. It takes me probably about five times as long to start an intro for a thread than it does an ordinary post. That is one thing I definitely need to improve on.6. What is the most memorable (in your opinion) RPing moment involving your character(s) thus far? Or what do you feel was personally your best roleplaying moment thus far with your character(s)? If you're NEW, what do you look forward doing with your character? When Sherlock was hanging by his neck from the ceiling of the Chemistry Lab in NYU.7. What are your biggest pet peeves about RPing (mention no names! LOL) ? REALLY short replies. And when the person who has posted before leaves nothing for you to go on. :/ I do that quite a lot, actually.8. Do prefer role plays that progress slowly or ones that move along at a steady, fast pace? (basically, do you like casual or fast? ) I guess I definitely prefer fast roleplays. That's proven by my excessive pestering, actually. XD Though I do label them Casual (on the occasions I start them), for some reason or the other.9. Are there other types of RPs you'd like to do (besides literature/theater/myths and legends--besides Rewritten City) or others that you already do? What type of role plays would you never do? (please do not post links to other boards) Being a fan of Doctor Who, I was thinking of joining one. :3 For some reason I do love the thought of writing the Eleventh Doctor.10. Do you prefer to type out long, detailed replies to your role plays, medium-length replies, or short ones? Medium, really.11. If you could pick up another character (taken or not), which would you try and why? OOH! Hamlet, The Mad Hatter, Peter Pan, Henry Jekyll/Edward Hyde and Stalker Kitteh12. What time of day do you tend to write best? Usually around three o'clock in the morning.13. Have you learned more about yourself as a writer from RPing? If so, What? That, apparently, I am an argumentative person. -_-
And that I hate practically everything I write. XD Fun.
14. What do you love most about Rewritten City? Why do you RP here? Because it's good! Plus the people are kind. :3 And I like my Sherly here, he sort-of fits in. Somehow.

1. Have you ever RPed before becoming a member of RC (Rewritten City)? If so, where?Um, for the two years prior to finding Rewritten City, I, uh, wolf RPed. Yeah. I'm a dork. But my best friend owned one of the first and most popular, beginner wolf RP sites at the time and it was, simply put, amazing. I loved it so much. It was chat-box based, so short posts... I used to RP like this: "hello" *she said." I could never go back now XD. 2. How would you best describe your role playing style to someone who wanted to know? (in general, not based on any specific character).Er, sporadic? I tend to write in the order that I feel the character I'm writing in would think, so everything's all inconstant and jumps about a lot of the time. Especially when I'm RPing someone sort of crazy like the Doctor, everything ends up so confusing that I usually have to read it over a few times myself to remember what I'm actually talking about. For that reason, I sort of keep my posts purposely short on average as not to ramble like an idiot. 3. What stylistic choices do you make in regards to your character (s)? (for instance, based on what you know from your canon, how do you incorporate that information into RPing?)Ling Ling's mostly an OC (well, to most people who don't watch obscure Chinese movies), so I'll talk about Lestrade. Though he wasn't in all to many of the original SH stories, he's been in nearly every adaptation, and even had a few books written with him as the main character, so I had lots to go on. His overall demeanor is mostly based on the modern Sherlock version, but his personality is much more based on the canon version of him. Coming from canon are the aspects that he is always being stressed out, worrisome and awkward. Coming from other peoples' adaptions of him is where his history grows: his middle name being Sholto, having French origins, falling of boats, having a estranged daughter and divorced wife. And, uh, I had watched a Single Man the day before I apped him, so lots of influence comes from that movie XD. 4. What are your strong suits in role playing/what are you best at/what comes easy for you (when playing your character(s))?God, I have no idea. I guess... I find it really easy to write dialogue. I mean, I've gone so far as to write a 30K+ (so far) story all in dialogue that's gotten really good response, so I think it just comes a bit naturally to me. Being a bit of a theater geek, I imagine the characters saying lines. 5. What are you worst at/need to improve when it comes to role playing/what comes difficult for you (when playing your character(s))?Well, I should probably work on staying more in character. I mean, I'm a bit inconsistent, as I mentioned above. The way I RP often depends on my mood, so if I started a threat in a really good mood but then it's my turn to post later and I'm in a bad mood, my character's train of thought often gets strangely dark. Also, I tend to use phrases or words that have a slightly different meaning for me than everybody else. 6. What is the most memorable (in your opinion) RPing moment involving your character(s) thus far? Or what do you feel was personally your best roleplaying moment thus far with your character(s)? If you're NEW, what do you look forward doing with your character?Jesus, I have no idea. I'm not very good at making decisions...I'll just be my child-like self and choose EVERYTHING. 7. What are your biggest pet peeves about RPing (mention no names! LOL) ?Waiting. I know it's both inevitable and fair, but it drives me crazy when I have heap loads of muse for a thread, but there's not reply. Though I'm usually easy to forgive, as long as it's a good post, when it comes. Bad posts are probably the worst: when there's no thought in them, they're short, incorrect grammar, etc. 8. Do prefer role plays that progress slowly or ones that move along at a steady, fast pace? (basically, do you like casual or fast? )Well, on here, I've only ever done casual threads, but I really love when threads go quickly. Not quick to be done, per say, but the posts come quickly. That's probably the one thing I miss dearly about chat box RP. I mean, going on a mad posting spree with Emmy once was pretty darn fun. 9. Are there other types of RPs you'd like to do (besides literature/theater/myths and legends--besides Rewritten City) or others that you already do? What type of role plays would you never do? (please do not post links to other boards)Well, I'm on Emmy's DW role-play site, but that's only because I know her. I'd say I'd really try anything out if a friend recommends it, but I don't have the desire to try any thing new on my own at the moment. As for RPs that I will NEVER do? Uh, apocalyptic-themes RPs really bug me for some reason, though I'm sure some are very good. I've sort of been scarred by The Walking Dead though. 10. Do prefer to type out long, detailed replies to your role plays, medium-length replies, or short ones?Um, I'd say medium length. I like to have around three hundred fifty to five hundred words to a post, but rarely any more or less. Though I do make short posts when I've not much to say. 11. If you could pick up another character (taken or not), which would you try and why?Well, I was a bit disappointed when Dr. Watson was already taken when I arrived here (though I already knew it, since it was Leffie who brought me here in the first place) because I'd always wanted to RP him, but now, in all honestly, I'm not sure I could live up to the amazing expectations for the character that Leffie's set, so I'd probably never try to RP him. I really wanted to RP Eponine as my second character, which is why I ended up trying out Cosette for a while, but forcing myself to try that really didn't work out. 12. What time of day do you tend to write best?Night time. Between six and twelve. Unfortunately that's hard when your parents yell at you for keeping your light on too long. Though, sometimes, I just make the posts on my ipod so I can edit for spelling mistakes and post quickly the next morning. 13. Have you learned more about yourself as a writer from RPing? If so, What?RP is mainly the reason that I've found a renewed love in writing. I've wanted to have some sort of job as a writer/journalist since second grade, in one variant or another, but my passion for creation was waning until I started RPing. It started with chat box RP, which was sort of satisfying, at least at the time, but now that I'm here, my creative outlet has been completely re-energized. 14. What do you love most about Rewritten City? Why do you RP here?EVERYTHING. Well, I'm a completely sap, really I am, so I'd say 1) the people, and 2) because I love writing and I rarely get to do it in such a creative way. I'm extremely sociable and perhaps a bit too reliant on the praise and love of other people, so once I get into a site I tend to immerse myself in it completely. Everyone here was unexpectedly and immensely nice when I came here, so I immediately wanted to belong. Of course, I RP here because I love writing, adn RP is a unique way to write that exercise an area of creativity most people never get to experience, I think, in the aspect that you rely on another person to create situations where you must think so in character. 1. Have you ever RPed before becoming a member of RC (Rewritten City)? If so, where? I have. I started out on livejournal, in a horror roleplay. It didn't go too well because it was panfandom and the majority of the characters were from anime and the players were really cliquish. It was a bad experience overall because two members, instead of contacting me about separating plots, just reported me for abuse, harassment, and all sorts of other things. Now, I've been at RC for quite a while and very recently I've been playing around with tumblr roleplays. 2. How would you best describe your role playing style to someone who wanted to know? (in general, not based on any specific character). I tend to roleplay what I feel like is my weakest trait in creative writing at the time. Sometimes that's descriptions so my roleplays will be full of figurative language, other times it's portraying emotions so I'll put more focus on that. 3. What stylistic choices do you make in regards to your character (s)? (for instance, based on what you know from your canon, how do you incorporate that information into RPing?) I always try to keep the main essence of my character in canon in my modernization of them. Sometimes, I try to play it safe with how much I change, like Jane; I've kept her pretty much the same personality wise. Other times, where there is more room for creative interpretation, like Hades, I put my own spin on it, even if it doesn't quite fit with canon. It all depends, really, on how much of the canon is important or relevant in today's world. 4. What are your strong suits in role playing/what are you best at/what comes easy for you (when playing your character(s))? I wouldn't say anything really comes easily to me. I'm hypercritical of my work so I always work much harder than normal in order to be content with what I'm putting out there. I've been told that I'm good at realistically depicting people and that I have moments of good use where figurative language is concerned so I suppose I'm good at those things. Personally, I find pretty much anything I put out sub-par at best so it's a difficult question to answer. 5. What are you worst at/need to improve when it comes to role playing/what comes difficult for you (when playing your character(s))? I have issues with dialogue and describing actions, which I know makes it very difficult to thread with me. I hope that if I can approve those things, then some other things (like other descriptions) will be easier to do but I doubt it. Writing is difficult, it always has been and always will be. 6. What is the most memorable (in your opinion) RPing moment involving your character(s) thus far? Or what do you feel was personally your best roleplaying moment thus far with your character(s)? If you're NEW, what do you look forward doing with your character? Most memorable but not best was when Hector got drunk at the New Year's party and let his shield down. Generally, I find that Hector's posts are the ones that I'm proudest of and happiest with but I'll have to say that Guy, who I've dropped, is the one that I'm most proud of. The scene where he's panicking in the store is one that was difficult to figure out how to write, and then subsequently to write, so I'm very happy with that. 7. What are your biggest pet peeves about RPing (mention no names! LOL) ? I would say godmodding but that's an easy fix once it's pointed out, so I have to say inconsistent characters. A character who changes to compliment literally every person they interact with isn't really a character, they're just an exaggerated reaction. That's a general story telling pet peeve of mine, actually. I know I'm guilty of it too, which makes it even worse. 8. Do prefer role plays that progress slowly or ones that move along at a steady, fast pace? (basically, do you like casual or fast? ) I like both as long as the scene and the speed match up. Something that really should be a fast roleplay being written casually is a bit frustrating because the pace needs to be matched. 9. Are there other types of RPs you'd like to do (besides literature/theater/myths and legends--besides Rewritten City) or others that you already do? What type of role plays would you never do? (please do not post links to other boards) I'll admit, I'm quite the fan of alternate universes where slavery is a common thing. Slavery is a very interesting topic to me because it calls to attention power dynamics, inequality, and the effects of each. I'm not a big fan of fantasy or sci-fi based roleplays, though. I do prefer to have just humans. 10. Do prefer to type out long, detailed replies to your role plays, medium-length replies, or short ones? I naturally tend to write medium length replies and I always feel like they're too short once they're posted. I haven't figured out a way to write longer replies without feeling like I'm rambling or talking about useless information. 11. If you could pick up another character (taken or not), which would you try and why? Well, once I've finished James up, I'll be at four characters so I doubt that I'll take up another character. If I did, I'd bring a character I've been working on developing onto RC. His name is Farlan, he's an alcoholic and double amputee. I'm quite fond of him.
12. What time of day do you tend to write best?
Night, always night.
13. Have you learned more about yourself as a writer from RPing? If so, What?
In some ways. I've learned that if I push and force myself, I can create content on demand. My style's developed from regular use, which is always a plus, as well.
14. What do you love most about Rewritten City? Why do you RP here?
The premise. Classic canons are so often ignored in roleplay environments that it's absolutely amazing to find a community that loves them and embraces them as a source for inspiration today.

1. Have you ever RPed before becoming a member of RC (Rewritten City)? If so, where? Well, there was a brief stint over at a little place called GG&SC that no longer exists because I got tired of running it, haha. It was extremely simplistic writing and a lot of fun, but not what I was looking for. Really, I cut my teeth on RPing here. 2. How would you best describe your role playing style to someone who wanted to know? (in general, not based on any specific character). Hmm, well, I would say conversational. I like to write like how my character would think/feel and how they would see things. So it’s descriptive and tells the story. I also make sure that everything is proper in grammar and tenses, so it’s easier to read. I don’t like guessing what characters are doing, especially my characters, so everything is also linear, moving from one thing to the next in an order that makes sense.
Did I mention I have slight OCD? 3. What stylistic choices do you make in regards to your character (s)? (for instance, based on what you know from your canon, how do you incorporate that information into RPing?) Hmm, well...it’s been interesting incorporating the characters to modern NYC. I like to keep up the main plot points for them, finding that what defines them in their original stories usually is the big event stuff. For example, Aramis was cast out of his home for un-gentlemanly behavior, he got over it and became the amourus Musketeer. I kept that in my Aramis’ story, but seeing as how kids stay home longer these days, it’s turned into a bit of a trust/commitment issue for him now, which opens up a bunch of drama! Of course, I plan for him to eventually get over it and turn more towards the canon version, but it’s the journey I’m enjoying here!4. What are your strong suits in role playing/what are you best at/what comes easy for you (when playing your character(s))? My strong suit is male characters. I find them much easier to work with. They view the world in a way that just makes them easier to translate onto paper. I also do better with happy/good characters over depressed or evil characters. Sure, there’s always time for drama, but I like to enjoy what I write. I am awesome with rambly characters, especially the ones who like to talk to themselves. It gives me a chance to write like I talk. 5. What are you worst at/need to improve when it comes to role playing/what comes difficult for you (when playing your character(s))? I can’t play the bad guy. Just can’t do it. Even when my characters get huffy, they’re quick to forgive. I also seem to get them stuck in certain mindsets and boom – there’s no changing their minds. In short, my characters rule me, haha. 6. What is the most memorable (in your opinion) RPing moment involving your character(s) thus far? Or what do you feel was personally your best roleplaying moment thus far with your character(s)? If you're NEW, what do you look forward doing with your character? Hmm...that’s a good question. Umm...hmm...well...I’m not sure I can pick out a favorite moment. Though, much of Zander’s inner monologue is awesome, especially when he’s wooing. 7. What are your biggest pet peeves about RPing (mention no names! LOL) ? Having to decode what other posters are trying to get across. I feel like I put more effort into translating the post than I do in replying. Seriously, just write what happens and make my life easier! That and I also find it annoying when your character is misinterpreted because the other person has something in his or her head and they just warp the emotions around. It makes me wonder if they read my post! 8. Do prefer role plays that progress slowly or ones that move along at a steady, fast pace? (basically, do you like casual or fast? ) I am good with either. They both have their merits. I like fast because I have to think and react, which makes me feel like I’m making progress. I also like slow because I find that it lets you develop long, thought out posts.9. Are there other types of RPs you'd like to do (besides literature/theater/myths and legends--besides Rewritten City) or others that you already do? What type of role plays would you never do? (please do not post links to other boards) I like many different things. TV, Movies, Books... I like to be well rounded. I’ve tried a couple different themed RPs and so far I haven’t found anywhere I like better than RC. I am involved with a movie based one, but unless you have a canon character, you don’t get much action, haha. That’s why I like it here – so many different canons together.
Role plays I would never do include anything teen drama-y, or anything where it’s animal based. I’m not about to start thinking like a dog to interact with humans, haha. Also, there was a board that advertised here a while ago about teen pregnancies that really freaked me out. That kind of a fantasy is just so far out of the ballpark for me!10. Do prefer to type out long, detailed replies to your role plays, medium-length replies, or short ones? I prefer medium – usually by 600 words, I’m worded out. However, it all depends on what you’re working with. If you only get 100 words out of your replier, you can only give so much for your own reply. If they give you 1500 words, it’s only right that you try and match it. So I prefer medium posts because they’re right in the middle, give me enough space to get my thoughts down, and other people can keep up with it. *nods*11. If you could pick up another character (taken or not), which would you try and why? Apollo. Long story short, when I first discovered this site, it was a more limited canon base and he was the only character I was familiar with that wasn’t taken. I had the app all ready to go when my life fell apart. Two years later I found Aramis was available and I’d just done a paper involving Alexandre Dumas allegories, so I felt the connection there and apped him. I still think that I’d like to give my version of Apollo a chance at some point, but that would make three Greek characters in my collection and that’s not really fair, haha.12. What time of day do you tend to write best? Anytime from 10 PM – 4 AM. The house gets quiet, there are no distractions, so I can sit and write.13. Have you learned more about yourself as a writer from RPing? If so, What? I’ve learned a lot, actually. I’ve learned I can write very well in third person – something I highly doubted. I’ve learned to take everything one step at a time, like a normal conversation. I’ve learned that there’s always room for humor, which can make some of my posts a bit sad, but I can pull off sad. I’ve learned that when you play with others, you must be patient and wait for a response that you may have written differently yourself. I’ve also learned that if I push myself, I can accomplish my writing goals, which is really awesome! I’ve also learned that I like to get everything done at once, which is convenient and easy, but it makes for one heck of a posting spree on Tuesdays. 14. What do you love most about Rewritten City? Why do you RP here? The people. I think you’re all amazing writers with big imaginations and even bigger hearts. No one is unwelcome here, and I adore that. There’s always room for accommodation, multiple plot lines, and it’s such a unique mix of genres that characters one would never have put together have the chance to interact. I love the very idea of this place and I’m glad I managed to pull myself together and join. Funny side note – I’m sitting in the same spot I was a year ago when I wrote Peter’s app, and I wasn’t sure I’d be here this long. It’s a weird coincidence, seeing as how I’m house sitting, so I had no idea I’d be here right now. It’s funny how life turns out.

1. Have you ever RPed before becoming a member of RC (Rewritten City)? If so, where?
Yes, I have. My rping has included a forum on FanFiction, Facebook, Phantom Manor, Shadows, Rewritten City and many, many private rp sessions.
2. How would you best describe your role playing style to someone who wanted to know? (in general, not based on any specific character).
My style, I am not sure how to describe it. I would say logical and descriptive. There is usually a lot of conversation, for my characters tend to be rather verbose. (I am including characters I have done on other sites, as I only have one character here at the present time.) I tend to visualize the character moving through a scene, how they look, what they are doing, saying and what they are seeing, hearing, even smelling. I try to have my characters react to the other character's words, actions and their basic presence.
3. What stylistic choices do you make in regards to your character (s)? (for instance, based on what you know from your canon, how do you incorporate that information into RPing?)
Because I have been rping the Victorian Phantom for so long, I tried to make Danny really like that, gave him a job and hobbies that are like the original, but somehow, in the modern age, he just appears to be a little more insane and off the beaten path. Some of the situations will undoubtedly be strange. (I haven't gotten around to all the stories I can foresee for Danny.)
4. What are your strong suits in role playing/what are you best at/what comes easy for you (when playing your character(s))?
I think I set the scene rather well when I do a starter. I like doing descriptions so that the other player and readers can see the same thing my character is seeing and experiencing. I like to write a story with a logical flow of events.
5. What are you worst at/need to improve when it comes to role playing/what comes difficult for you (when playing your character(s))?
Sometimes I have a hard time with threads that have gone on too long. I run out of things to say. And I like action in my threads, either physical action or emotional action or an interesting story plot, but sometimes I just can't think of anything else to say or do. I get stuck in a mire.
6. What is the most memorable (in your opinion) RPing moment involving your character(s) thus far? Or what do you feel was personally your best roleplaying moment thus far with your character(s)? If you're NEW, what do you look forward doing with your character?
Since Danny is pretty new, I have not had any really memorable moments really. The threads have been good, but he needs to thread with more people and get into more situations to round him out as a character. I am looking forward to meeting more people, and I have been, and putting Danny into more situations and stories. He reacts differently in each situation and with each character, so I am looking forward to some memorable moments in the future.
7. What are your biggest pet peeves about RPing (mention no names! LOL) ?
a. Threads that go on forever with no purpose and nothing happening. I promise to contact other players and plot out more story lines if this happens. b. Players who do not read your correctly and completely miss the point of a thread. This of course could be due to misunderstanding my writing, but a PM is in order then between the players. I have done this on occasion and when the person contacted me, I have changed the post to make sense. I will always rewrite something if I have misunderstood or on the suggestion of another player to make it better.
8. Do prefer role plays that progress slowly or ones that move along at a steady, fast pace? (basically, do you like casual or fast? :P)
I appreciate if players respond in a reasonable amount of time, which I consider.... every day, every other day or once a week. If there will be a gap that is longer, it is only polite to post something on the site to let others know or a personal PM to players involved in threads as I understand it's sometimes impossible to have the time to post.
9. Are there other types of RPs you'd like to do (besides literature/theater/myths and legends--besides Rewritten City) or others that you already do? What type of role plays would you never do? (please do not post links to other boards)
I had been thinking about that, and the only things I could think of would be classic television or movie dramas. I am not talking sitcoms or reality shows or anything like that. I think there could be some good stories there.
10. Do prefer to type out long, detailed replies to your role plays, medium-length replies, or short ones?
I don't like to give a preference here, for each player has their own style. And sometimes the length of the post is determined by what needs to be said, thought or done by the character. Any length is fine as long as it makes sense in the thread. So really, any length is fine, as long as there is enough material with which to reply.
11. If you could pick up another character (taken or not), which would you try and why?
I am thinking that if I request another character, it could well be Esmerelda, the gypsy girl from Hunchback of Notre Dame. I would have to think about how to bring her into the modern world and also request that canon.
12. What time of day do you tend to write best?
Definitely when I am not tired. I work full time and so, my best time is after work, in the late afternoon to late evening and into the night. But not too far into the night, because I can't think and write well when I'm tired. Weekends and days off are good too.
13. Have you learned more about yourself as a writer from RPing? If so, What?
In the past, I have written many fanfics. Writing with other people is interesting because you have to leave yourself open to what the other character may do or say. Your character must react to the other character. So in that way, I have learned flexibility. It's something like acting and something like a conversation. You have to get to know the other character as they reveal themselves to you.
14. What do you love most about Rewritten City? Why do you RP here?

It's a very different venue from what I have done before. My characters have been living in Victorian times for so long, that this is quite different. It is a challenge for me. The Victorian characters were very much in my comfort zone. This is forcing me to leave my comfort zone and meet some people who are very different. The modern age brings its own hazards and strangenesses. I really do love Rewritten City. I am getting more comfortable with Danny and with his environment. New York City is also an environment that is different for me too. While I do live in a city, it's much quieter and more laid back than the NYC environment. So it's different and exciting. I like the whole fresh idea of Rewritten City. It's a very clever and innovative idea.
