Fall semester starts tomorrow for my 3rd year at NYU! I can't wait! I actually didn't have too bad of a summer this year either. Well, not counting having my whole year threatened by my dear beloved aunt! Grrr! Which reminds me.... Note to self: Find out how to ask to have a blue pants suit dry cleaned in Mandarin! I don't think Mrs. Zhang would be too happy if I had it done somewhere else. Anyways, I'll add more later! A lot happened and I really want to get it all down properly instead of just skimming over it.

Heaven! This week has been absolute heaven being back at school. Also, I finally had a chance to check out the Pen & Brush's site for the winner of the People's Choice competition. I figured it wasn't me since I hadn't heard from them, so I wanted to see who and what had won.
Jane Aire or Eyre or something. I can't remember exactly what her name is now. A painter, or at least, it was one of her art pieces that had won. There wasn't a whole lot written in her bio or about the piece itself. I wonder if she even entered the competition herself. Probably not since all the other artists had written quite a decent amount when it came to explaining their pieces that they'd submitted, but all that was written with her piece was the name of it (which I didn't really take note of, unfortunately).
It was a pretty dark piece though. Sort of abstract, and .... weird .... I say weird because while I was looking at it, it made me feel sort of uncomfortable. I'm not really sure how to explain it. It's quite dark and disturbing, but at the same time, mesmerizing, almost as if the picture has a force within insisting you keep looking at it.
There will be an exhibit of more of her work next month at the P&B. I'll go and take a closer look at that piece then, just to see what it is about this picture... I wonder if all her other work is like this too.
