I never know how to start these things without coming off as an over-happy candy striper, haha. So I am going to dive right in and babble for a while!
My name is Tens and I am new to this place, so I thought I would at least introduce myself!
Hmm...where to start?
I'm a twenty-something year old (and I stress the old!) Canadian. I'm from out west where it's all cattle country and Blackfoot territory, so I am sure a lot of western influences will bleed into my characters! I've been role playing since 2009 and find it to be a great way to socialize and improve on my writing. I've been writing since about 2003 and I've come to be very comfortable with my style. You'll find it's very conversational, just like I am, haha. I don't sleep much, so you'll probably find me kicking around at odd hours. So if you ever need someone to talk to, feel free to drop me a line!
Aside from writing - something I need to do more of - I attend university. I have degrees in Western History, and Native American Studies. However, as you can imagine, on their own they're just pretty pieces of paper, so I am currently in the last semester of my Education degree. I hope to teach Social or English at the high school level, but my dream job would be to teach creative writing. I try and mentor all the young people I know to write their hearts out, so it would be nice to get paid for it, too .
I suppose I am a bit like my character - Aramis. I'm bored far too easily and am always looking for something else to do, unsatisfied with what I am doing. So I am the classic multitasker and eager poster! I love reading - mainly Louis L'Amour and Jeff Lindsay - but I don't like this whole electronic book fad (takes too long to read), so you'll find stacks of paper back novels all over my house...and one dusty Kobo . I also love music - especially older forms of rock, and classic country styles. I'm still using cassette tapes and CD's, so I suppose I am a titch antiquated. When I can, I am out and about with the love of my life - my 21 month old Chocolate Lab, Guinness. He hogs the bed, but I love him anyways.
I hate to admit that I am not a fan of plays or musicals or opera (sorry!), but I can appreciate a good story. I love TV and movies that have those good stories, and can be found enthralled with what is happening on the screen because I have a very overactive imagination. Thus, horror movies and gore are a big no-no in my house - especially those Cadbury Cream Egg commercials. They're morbid.
I first discovered this site back in 2010 and thought it looked amazing, but I was pretty deep in the dumps at the time and set aside any ambitions I may have had when it came to joining. However, I rediscovered Alexandre Dumas' books when I was writing a paper on the movie "Sleepers" and had an idea for reinventing Aramis that would not leave me alone, so I found my way back here! I am sure it will be an amazing experience!
Well, aside from my social insurance number and blood type, I think I covered it all, haha. If there is anything you all would like to know, just ask!
See you all on the board!
