Osric loved fairs. But he was disappointed; he had no one to go with, and Hank and Wilson had both said they were busy. And he didn't want to go with any of his other friends, which was too bad. He kind of wished he had a girlfriend to go with, but no such luck, at the moment. So he went alone.
Bad idea. He felt like a loser. No one went to the fair alone, what was he thinking?! He pouted, annoyed. He wished Hank hadn't ditched him: originally they'd been going, but then Hank said, 'Actually, no,' yesterday, and Victor didn't want to change his plans now. He had wandered for about five minutes, wondering what he could do alone besides rides - but he wasn't particularly in the mood to go on a roller coaster.
It was in front of a merry-go-round that he noticed the other girl. She looked alone. Well, that was a bit mean of him to think - perhaps she had someone with her. She was cute, and Osric didn't want to seem like some kind of creeper who went up to young girls and kidnapped them, but he couldn't help but bounding up to her like the kid who asks strangers, 'Can I play with you?' and saying with a large grin, "Hi, what's your name?" He had to start somewhere.

Jane had never been to a fair before, so when she heard there was one in town, of course she had to go. Unfortunately, she couldn't get anyone to go with her since they all worked regular jobs, so Jane decided to go by herself. She was sure that it'd still be plenty of fun even if she was alone.
After getting suckered into several game booths, and walking away with a single teddy bear, Jane headed for the rides. After all, you couldn't go to the fair without riding at the very least the merry-go-round. The line was filled mostly with couples and kids with their parents, so Jane did feel out of place, certainly. It was difficult not to.
"Hi, what's your name?"
Jane jumped a little, surprised to be addressed directly like that. The man who addressed her was young though, smiling in the way that only good hearted people did, so Jane smiled back instantly.
"I'm Jane. What's your name?"

He felt bad when the girl look a little startled, but it was only for a few seconds, before she smiled and didn't look a bit afraid of him. He wondered if maybe he should tell her she should be more afraid, because what if he was a kidnapper? But maybe he had a nice face, he liked to think that. "I'm Jane. What's your name?"
"My named Osric,"[/b] he smiled. He was quite a bit taller than her, and he felt a little bad about that. But they looked around the same age. "Are you here alone? I mean, sorry, I don't want to like, seem like a weirdo or anything, but I was just wondering cos I'm here alone and I'm kind of bored and maybe you are too."[/b]
Well, that was incredibly awkward and forward of him to say. He corrected himself, "Not that you look bored, I mean, you can totally just tell me to go away."[/b]

"Are you here alone? I mean, sorry, I don't want to like, seem like a weirdo or anything, but I was just wondering cos I'm here alone and I'm kind of bored and maybe you are too."
Jane wrinkled her nose in amusement, finding Osric to be funny in his awkwardness. If Perry hadn't insisted on teaching her self-defense one afternoon, then she would have shied away from answering. "All my friends couldn't come, they work during the day and couldn't justify taking a sick day just to ride the Ferris Wheel with me." Jane shrugged slightly.
"Not that you look bored, I mean, you can totally just tell me to go away."
Laughing, Jane shook her head. "No, it's totally fine! It is a bit boring going to the fair alone." Jane spoke the last sentence like it was some very important secret, though the laughter in her voice kept it from sounding overly serious. Jane adjusted the hold on her teddy bear and fixed her purse strap over her shoulder, stepping forward as the line moved.
"So, Osric, are we going to make going to the fair alone be less boring by taking away the alone part? Fair friends?"

Jane laughed; Osric was glad she still didn't think he was a creeper. Maybe he was safe in that area by now. "No, it's totally fine! It is a bit boring going to the fair alone." Osric giggled; the way she said it was funny and cute. He liked her humor.
"So, Osric, are we going to make going to the fair alone be less boring by taking away the alone part? Fair friends?"
"Fair friends,"[/b] he agreed with a large grin. "Definitely." He looked around, then nodded to the merry-go-round. "You wanna go on that, then? I'm sure your bear can go, too."[/b]
