Character’s Full Name: John Turner
"Sometimes I think that I like fear, and pain. I think thats why I joined the Yard."
OOC: Name: Imogen (Pine). Roleplay experience and how you found us: Gabby sent me here! I have been Roleplaying for near on four years now, on and off.
Canon: Original Character
Face-claim: Not exactly, but... yeah... ^^'
Social Status: John Turner is a middle class character, partly because he has no knowledge of his past life and rank, due to an unprecedented attack of amnesia most recently.
Occupation: John Turner enjoys spending time at the local clockworks and antique keys shop, but he actually works as a special investigator.
Age: He appears to be about 36, although this is not certain, on account of his amnesia.
Appearance: He wears a pressed white shirt, over which is worn a dark grey waistcoat, with bronze buttons emblazoned with the crown symbol. His pants are a slightly darker grey than his waistcoat, and made of rather plain cotton. A chain, hanging a number of assorted odd items, hangs from the belt loopholes. His coat is relatively long, although not a full-blown trench coat, and dark grey as well.
John Turner has an angular, although not pointy, face: a face that looks like it once could have belonged to the body of a madman. His eyes are dark, dark brown; almost black, and shine with a bright innocence that makes invisible his inner darkness. His hair, also black, sticks up wildly at the front, as if he had been electrocuted. He wears rectangular, black framed glasses, that perch precariously at the end of his nose, which looks as if it had been broken several times in the past. He is frighteningly thin, so much so that those who know him would think him anorexic, but for the amount of tea which he consumes. His ribs are weak, due to their being mysteriously broken during his accident.
Overall Personality: At first glance, John Turner seems like a gentle, innocent, almost naive young man, who has no tendencies towards violence. This could not be further away from the truth. In actuality, John Turner has the potential to be a cold, deadly Psychopath. A side of him created, more likely than not, in the incident where he lost his memories, John Turner has the tendency to lose himself in a violent mood swing, triggered by some form of aggravation. He does not want to harm people, when he thinks about it, or when he speaks of he subject with others, but in practice, John turns away his conscience and will go to great lengths to see someone punished; sometimes he will do it himself, and in the most uncouth and abhorrent ways imaginable. He can reach dangerous levels of self-loss when he hits one of these mood swings, and completely forget what he is doing until the damage is done.
When he is not in one of these violent states, however, John Turner can be a kind, loving friend. He is highly self-sacrificial, and if he cares about someone, he would go to extreme lengths to ensure their safety.
Likes & dislikes:
Likes: Tea (specifically Earl Grey, and Lapsing Souchong), Reading, dogs, especially German Shepherds, and Border Collies.
Dislikes: Rum, loud noises, sharp objects.
Goals: His short term goal is to drink the ultimate tea, which he fears he will not accomplish in New York City.
His long term goal is to find out who he once was, what he did, and what happened the day he lost everything he had ever known.
Overall History: John Turner woke up in the middle of a bustling highway in London, near Tower Bridge. He had no recollection of who he was, or what he was doing there. Everything before that point was a blank slate. John was quickly taken to a nearby hospital, where it was discovered that he had been beaten severely: fractured rib, broken nose (which, the doctor revealed, had been broken before), and multiple other injuries, besides acute amnesia. He was released from the hospital, and sent to a mental facility, where he was "reformed". By the time he came from there, John Turner had nearly gone mad from trying to remember what had happened. In the end, he decided that he needed a fresh start: he gave himself a name, and, after a year more in London, flew to New York City, to try and take a new perspective of things. He enlisted in the police force as an investigator, after showing a flare for crime-solving at Scotland Yard. He will sometimes have flashbacks, blurred images of his past life, but whenever he tries to focus on them, they slip away. He also has a heavy Northern accent (English Northern).
Most Influential Event: The unknown event which resulted in his amnesia.
Sample Writing: John Turner walked out of his little shop, yawning. He had had a late night, the night before, and he was ready for a nice cuppa. Walking down to his favorite local tea shop, John mulled over his current case. A string of murders, one after another. A missing child, and a lost ring. How could they be connected? Yet, he thought that they must be! He winced as a large man bundled past him, elbowing him in the ribs. His chest still ached, and hadn't stopped since his... accident. He shook his head, seeing the tea shop just ahead. Best not to think about it. As the pushed open the door, nodding to the smiling woman behind the counter (he was a common visitor, and they had struck up a friendship, or sorts), a thought occured to him.
A possibility. His eyes widened, and he froze.
Yes. He knew now. The three mysteries were related!
And he knew exactly how.
