MARGUERITE SAINT-JUST
"Flattery gets you everywhere."
OOC: I go by Lady B. Been role playing online for over 15 yrs now doing anything from Star Wars, Transformers, Pirates of the Carribean, The Patriot, Anthro/Furries, Stargate, Phantom of the Opera, and several more! And where or from who? From Rachel (yes, naturally, I will give her credit for this).
Canon: Marguerite St. Just from The Scarlet Pimpernel
Face-claim: Jane Seymour
Social Status: Upper Class
Occupation: A French Actress and former Model
Age: 32
Appearance: Marguerite is average height, just slightly under 5' 6”, and weighs a narrow but shapely 137 pounds. With what most people call a perfect figure and body build, she's struggled to achieve and keep her figure for the sake of her occupation. She is thin but doesn’t have a dancer's figure; shapely but not voluptuous or curvy like Marilyn Monroe or Mae West. She has lengthy and voluminous brunette hair that reaches just past her waist, naturally straight but she often curls it to add more body to it or make it into a fashionable style. The most distinguishing feature of this French beauty is her eyes – she has Heterochromia; the left eye is a soft hazel with hints of teal while the right eye is a soft medium brown. She has soft, pinkish-peachy creamy skin that she's worked hard to mesh with her eyes and hair; she does not care to allow it to tan.
Marguerite carries herself with honor and pride even if she has to force it in an effort to hide her emotions. She is well poised with a bit of a graceful waltz in her step, a little humble touch and fear of not wanting to rock the ground in announcement of her presence. She is graceful and gentle - always best being a public figure in Entertainment, she has learned to put on a show even in her personal life to hide just about anything that is wrong with her or personal issues in her life.
Usually wearing the latest fashions, whether casual to formal, she has been known to wear denims more often than not. Usually in tune to the fashion of that season but occasionally she will make her own fashion statement by wearing whatever she likes most despite what is seen on the Catwalk. She uses makeup more to compliment her natural features and appearance (unless she's on the stage. Then she's at the mercy of the Make-up Artists). Her hair more often than not is left down or cascading from some pulled back style as she loves to flaunt her lengthy fine hair.
She has a slightly mixed dialect - a subtle French lilt with genteel British hints, almost making her sound like a Canadian from Quebec. Her voice is medium, warm, charming, yet strong.
Overall Personality: Marguerite is a beautiful, sprightly and accomplished woman. Believing that there is nothing she cannot do so long as she can set her mind to it and remain focused but she can be easily distracted by fashion, social attention or personal issues. She can appear to be rather vain but she's only protecting her valuable physical assets as it's they have been her only means of living for several years. She's afraid of losing her physical appeal and becoming unemployed. Intelligent and witty yet reserved and gentle, she has tried to balance charisma and restraint in the public eye continuing to perform when she's not on stage. Fearful that if she doesn't do everything perfectly her way, she will fall prey to any sort of negativity. In private, she loses that control, battles her self-confidence and feels utterly alone. She craves attention so social events and her acting feed her self-esteem needs. To her, public opinion and acceptance are what she needs to further her advancement in the Entertainment world. Curious and eager, her mind often is set upon the means and decisive upon how to achieve her goals. When her plans do not go accordingly, her stubborn nature will appear. She ventures through as many avenues as possible to accomplish the task her mind is set upon however hesitates when she feels she's no longer in control. Overcoming this problem is more difficult than what she can handle. She can easily become jealous or envious and desperately battles to not show it. She hasn't an explosive temper but instead her anger simmers and when it does rarely appear, it's delicately played out with intense drama before she becomes a recluse and wallows in herself.
Fiercely protective of those whom she loves, she'll do anything for them to keep them from harm, including harming others. Her taste for revenge only comes out when she feels she had no other choice. Unfortunately, if someone plays their cards right, they can easily manipulate her; utilizing those weaknesses and it doesn't take much to 'twist her arm' metaphorically. If she feels there is no other choice, she will succumb to the suggestions of others. She's more apt to keep problems to herself and not seek help, feeling that no one can help her. She does have trust issues for varied reasons and because of her lack of trust and faith towards people, she cannot forgive a person for whatever they have done to her or her loved ones. Blaming herself for situations that she has no control over even if it's just wishing harm upon a person seems a touchy subject for her all because of certain circumstances that unfold when others have wronged her and they in return were harmed. So she feels the intense guilt depending upon how close the person is to her. It may seem unreasonable to others, but not to Marguerite. She simply cannot let go of her problems clinging to them as though it's all she has or fearful that others will see her negatively.
Her work ethic is astonishing and some would label her a workaholic or perfectionist. She's utterly devoted to her career and quite picky about the roles she accepts. The more challenging the role, the better! Always seeking ways to expand her horizons and try new things that she can utilize upon the stage or screen such as learning more dance steps, even brushing up her music skills – both instrumental and vocal -, stage fighting, stunts, and more. Intense involvement in activities overwhelms her to the point of exhaustion especially when she's troubled by anything as simple as a hair out of place or as complicated as someone blackmailing her. As a result, she occasionally pushes herself too far, too much, too often. Despite all this depth of involvement in her career, she does enjoy social interaction such as parties and various events quite often. She's been known to host parties at her residence in an effort to get to know people who can be socially advantageous to her; anything that can get her connected to people – especially the wealthy and elite.
Likes, dislikes: Marguerite enjoys a variety of music, Equitation (equestrian sports like polo, horse races, dressage competitions, etc), ethnic foods, wine and various liquors, social events, fine art, roses, brandy soaked chocolate covered cherries and other alcoholic chocolates, domesticated exotic cats, delicate rose scented perfumes, fine or formal fashions.
Marguerite dislikes getting no sleep, isolation, lack of control, fast food, rude people, lying and liars, snakes, muscle cars and being bored.
Goals, fears: Marguerite is driven to be one of the best Entertainers in the world! It has been a goal of hers since she was a girl and it continues to be her life long goal. Her next goal is to perform on Broadway and she hopes to land something in Hollywood, too, since she has already conquered the French stage and screen.
What she fears most is finding no work in the industry she has been a part of for so long. She is fearful of becoming a social outcast. She also fears losing her loved ones. She has a fear of bats and spiders.
Overall History: Marguerite was born to Pierre and Marie Anné Saint-Just near Milon la Chapelle, France. She grew up with her brother, Armand, on a charming small estate. Always sprightly and curious, often playing with her brother Armand. Young Marguerite did not follow the rules often and constantly disobeyed. That all changed when her parents died unexpectedly. When she was aged 6, her parents died in a tragic accident. She and her brother were orphaned and became wards of a couple who were close to their parents and had no children of their own. She went from a bold sprightly girl to a silent shy mess. Never talking to her new mother and father, clinging to her brother Armand, Marguerite was fearful that she would be separated from him. A year and a half later, she moved to Paris with her brother and adoptive parents. She was enrolled in and became one of favored darlings at a local private school for girls. Almost immediately she gained a best friend in Suzanne de Tournay, daughter of wealthy CEO Richard de Tournay, of AeroTech Advanced Incorporated.
Young Marguerite continued to struggle for over a year to come to terms with the tragedy of her parents’ deaths a couple years prior. Constantly plagued by nightmares. Her adoptive parents tried so hard to help her overcome them. Even dear Suzanne could do nothing but try to help suppress the deep pain and loss. Only Armand could understand what she was going through and he was the only one who could really relieve the hurt. Because of this, she developed an even deeper relationship with her brother. Learning over the next few years while in Paris with her adoptive parents, that in order to survive she had to accept a mild and unglamorous lifestyle but she dreamed of becoming wealthy and wanted, anything that would give her and her brother the means to live well.
So by aged 14 she fell prey to those dreams by becoming a model after convincing her adopted mother who was not sure about this decision but would support Marguerite nevertheless and watch her like a hawk to make sure no one would take unnecessary advantage of young Marguerite. Marguerite’s mother had once done some modeling when she was younger. Marguerite's very delicate youthful features and fresh outgoing presence started to catch the attention of some people. Through this medium she was brought out of her shy fears and learned how to work the lens developing the charisma to match her fresh ever blooming beauty.
By aged 16, she became the new fresh face of Paris for the international make-up company, L'Oréal. A year later she signed a contract, with her ever present adoptive mother, for a fashion designer. Accepting anything that came her way such as taking on small acting roles. Finally she landed a role as a troubled girl during world war two who became a spy. Hesitant to attend her first social she became addicted to networking and socializing with the wealthy and elite and those within her trade.
Now 18 years old, she was reaching a wider audience, started to gain national attention and became well known within the circles of Fashion. She didn't want to stop there with modeling, so she branched out more in acting on the stage and continued to put herself out there for film or television. Determined to achieve her goals of being famous, she was able to land roles in a short lived TV series, 2 independent films, 3 stage productions, and countless modeling contracts that included commercials. She kept busy by bathing in the limelight as though it were an addiction - and it was. Wealthy and able to support herself and her brother by the time she turned 21 years old, she enjoyed socializing more and more. Soon enough Marguerite became the toast of Paris and quite sought after in more ways than one. Though she dated several boys and men over the years, marriage was the furthest thing from her mind as she saw it more a hindrance to her career than a support system. But she was rather dependent upon those men for the attention that they gave her. No one could give her the kind of security that her brother Armand could naturally offer.
When her brother was assaulted by a man named St. Cyr, all because Armand fell for the man's daughter, Marguerite waged a legal battle against the man which cost him dearly and later mysteriously cost his life. Before St. Cyr died, Marguerite was wrapped up once again in a scandal that involved St. Cyr's son this time, who proposed to Marguerite. When St. Cyr learned of this, he did all he could to blackmail, tarnish, and wrap her up in false claims. She was nearly sent to prison falsely with various serious charges only saved from the horrid fate when she was proven innocent and absolved of all charges. St. Cyr found himself charged with wrongful misconduct and several other charges. Again, this destroyed St. Cyr and his family, he committed suicide after murdering his wife, daughter and son. What happened to the St. Cyr's slowly started to hound Marguerite's consciousness feeling as though she was the one who caused the man and his family's demise. Because of this, she would never sleep well at night.
A missed opportunity being cast in an epic Hollywood film got her to want more out of her life. Now 25 years old and determined never to let that happen again, she spread her wings into new markets and challenges, especially after successful short runs on the stage productions of "Robert's Rules of Order" and "Perdita" in London's West End. She returned to France for one of the lead roles - Henriette - in the masterful remake of "Orphans of the Storm", which became one of her favorite films. After the success of the remade film, she performed "Amour Bête" at the Comédie Française for a short run then returned to London. After a few months in the comedy of "Love So Strange", she landed the lead role of Barbara Worth, aka Lady Skelton, in "The Wicked Lady" and enjoyed every moment of it! Her sights began shifting to Hollywood and even Broadway while she continued to work in the West End.
That dream was made a reality when the most recent production of "The Wicked Lady" that she's been a part of in West End, was opening up on Broadway. She cemented the lead role so she would be able to continue to play Barbara Worth in New York City.
Leaving Paris and London behind, Marguerite now made NYC her new home. She continued to make herself well known by staying in the spotlight, both on stage and off stage!
Most Influential Event: The most influential moment in her life was when her parents died leaving her and her brother orphaned. That moment made her even closer to her brother and determined to enjoy life!

A flight should not be arduous or bordering on being obnoxious. Alas this flight was just that! Delayed more than twice then the flight was canceled! Finally after a lengthy 'discussion' to work out the next flight, she raced to catch the plane and nearly missed it! Luckily she secured First Class which after all that drama - more than what she usually performed on stage - she could finally relax with a glass of champagne and much needed sleep or so she thought. Coach class sounded, to her, rather abominable to say the least. First of all there was a cranky child, then a constantly dissatisfied man who would not stop grumbling! Never in her life had she ever endured such laborious travel! This had better not be how her life in New York City would be like. Otherwise she would turn right back around, shred the contract and return to Paris where at least she knew she could count upon a good, quiet life!
Striding through the terminal of JFK International airport, she sported the latest fashion from Paris... naturally. Slung over her shoulder was a cream leather purse-bag that matched her outfit of light chambray blue blouse trimmed in lace ruffles, with a small patch of pleats on the front at the bottom of the lace V neck, half-sleeves with draped ruffles and polished pearl buttons that matched the color of the blouse. She wore dark indigo denims with white floral embroidery down the outside of the pant leg and white leather two inch heel fancy shoe that could barely be seen because the bottom cuff of the denims mostly covered them making her legs look longer than they already looked. The lengthy combed out curls of her hair bounced and swayed in unison with each step she took. Keeping her eyes focused ahead of her, she was highly aware of the many eyes constantly upon her. A smirk started to play at the corner of her mouth as it became apparent to her that she was recognized. Good.
The airport became her first stage in NYC, putting on a performance as though she were walking the catwalk at a high profile fashion show or even in a stage performance, with smiles and greetings to the occasional person, even a couple of autographs for fans. She was soaking up this attention like a vampire! She loved it and it showed!
After collecting her luggage and catching her designated ride from the airport into Manhattan, it was time to have a look at the stage where the new production of "The Wicked Lady" was to be performed. Then she could go to her new living quarters.
She felt a flutter of excitement while sitting in the back of the luxury car watching the landmarks appear and pass by. All she could do... was smile.
